I know it's a functioning scoop, but...

I added some honeycomb across the scoop (via Imagox, no less), even before I saw this link.

Pretty funny. Cute bird.

I dunno... we have pretty small intake scoops... I can envision only chipmonks and moths getting scooped, but what they are doing at that height I'm not sure... :)

Then again, our scoops are *slightly* smaller than STIs

Happy Screening

Well, I heard that M7 is coming out with their new Cold Sparrow Intake System (CSIS), which is rumored to be good for another 8 HP ("It's as light as a feather!").

And actually, I added "braces" to mine -- details (and photos) here. I scored mine from Imagox, but you can make your own pretty easily, I would guess.

A cat decal.

Maybe I should look into getting more grille material... I actually had an idea for a heavier-duty perforated aluminum one that would have been prohibitively expensive, but I might have a better line on raw materials now. All of my hex grilles sold like hotcakes, and would definitely have helped with your little "sparrow issue". :)

Needs blinking LED's, like KITT.

I have been thinking about doing this as well. I was driving to work yesturday and a small finch was in the road pecking at some road kill. They usually fly away well before you get close but I guess this one found some especially good road kill because it wanted way to late to fly. I couldn't swerve anymore than I did as a ditch was the shoulder and an oncoming car was in the other lane. Lucky for the finch a MINI pushes a nice pocket of air ahead of it-as the finch lifted into that pocket- WHOOSH- it went up and over as if it had afterburners. I was afraid that that ride may have scared the bird crap out of it but that missed as well. I can only imagine what the bird thought- what the !? Hey, that was fun!

I thought that was the ImagoX touch -- like Midas, just waaaaay geekier.

Last winter I made teeth out of ice... it made a great CAI, and must have worked well since I had no birds anywhere near the car all winter.
