NTB won't mount non-runflats on my S?

I dropped my '03 MCS at NTB to get my run flats swapped out for regular tires. They called me an hour later and said their policy does not allow them to put non-run flat tires on a car with no spare. I argued with them for 15 minutes, but couldn't get anywhere.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?

Also, they told me I had the "completely wrong tire size" at 215-45-17, which was a size suggested by Tirerack.com to open up more tire options and lower prices. Now that I've bought them, NTB won't install, so I'll have to get VERY specific with the appointment at the next tire place to make sure I get get my shoes put on!!

I don't know what NTB is, but it sounds like you need to find a better tire shop.

215-45-17 is an excellent size for the MINI.

I doubt the next shop you go to will give you any hassle at all.

Sounds like they want to sell you some of THEIR tires. Local NTB here has mounted and fixed non run flats for me no questions.

I run 215/45-17's but it depends on your rim size of course. Sounds like you just got a jerk.

The tirerack site has a 'find a installer' feature. It even lists their prices for mounting etc. Those shops won't pull BS on you trying to sell you their tires in place of your mail ordered ones.

I found NTB thourhg Tirerack, but they ahdn't been reviewed. There are several well reviewd places, I jsut wanted an immediate appointment. Looks like I'll try someone else tomorrow.
BTW, my rims are 17's as well.

Try finding a Goodyear. They mounted & balanced my non-RF Tire Rack tires for around $80

p.s... my tires are 215/45/17
p.s.s... I hope you will tell Tire Rack about your NTB experience so they can take them off their recommended installer list.

Sorry, should have said width of rim...

I've got the stock 17" white wheel option, which I believe are 17x7's, though I could be wrong.

NTB is goign to mount my tires

I called their national feedback line, and within minutes of ending the call got a call from the store manager, who apologized and said they would mount my tires; he wanted to be sure I was aware that I had no spare.

He was quite professional about it. Hopefully everything is cool when I go to pick it up.

I would go somewhere else.

And what size are your rims... the stock 17x7? A 205 would have probably been the size they suggested but a 215 will work just fine.

edit: looks like you got it resolved. It amazes me how stupid some people can be. "Really? I don't have a spare? I thought it was folded up in my glove box"
