Considering first Mini purchase.
 

Hey everyone,

I've been looking into getting a used car and I'm considering a Mini. I love quick little manuals that get good mileage so the Mini is right up my alley. I came across a decent priced one in Pittsburgh. It's a 2007 Mini Hardtop with 39,000 miles on it for $12,000.

I actually test drove it and everything handled fine. The car seemed to be in good shape though I didn't look at the engine and wouldn't know much about it if I did. My previous cars have been Japanese and they didn't need much TLC.

I only hesitate because the car has no warranty with it at all. I seem to read many reports of problems with Mini's online and this one is already 5 years old. Am I asking for trouble? Should I talk with the dealer about adding some kind of warranty?

I'd say to avoid the early years for each gen, 2000/2001 and 2007. If you're looking at a non-s hardtop, they seem to be more generally reliable.
