Dragon, Dragon, Dragon

I can't make it this year. It seems like every other post I read is about MOTD and I'm one of the extreme few without a MOTD badge or MOTD signature.

Its driving me :impatient :impatient :impatient :impatient I sooo wanted to go but couldn't ge tthe time off.

So now for the purpose of this thread, is anyone going to be on NAM that weekend? Cause right now it feels like I'm all alone.

I am with you. I wanted to go but just couldn't get off work. I might just get up early Saturday morning and drive down for the day.

Fontana has high speed internet in various areas. I'm sure people will be posting from the Dragon. . . but that might just make it worse.

One thing to remember is that the Dragon is there 365 days a year. Find another nice time later this year and head down to get your fix!

But the people won't be there

The hundreds with similar fanatical following of this little car will be absent

The atmosphere will be different

The road is just a road, I can go to a track and solve that. the people thatsa different story.

I will also be here, but in spirit, as ill be busy studying for finals, yet again. I might have been able to go if it was Friday, saturday, and sunday, and not wed, thu, fri. But for some reason the planners had to be difficult...

There's always FOTD, in October. While it is NOT anywhere as big as MOTD, of May, it still involves MINIs doing their thing during Fall color.

Tsk, tsk! You mean OktCloverFest!

I think what Drew means is for MINI folks, it's like missing MINI Woodstock. And for DkSilver163's information, he is more than welcome to come up on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Lots of us come early and stay longer, so there is plenty of MINI love.

I'm not going to the Dragon. It is a bit of a long way since I'm driving to Philadelphia in May and from Alaska in July. I'll be online during MOTD. I'll bet there will be lots of exciting reports from the event.

Don't feel bad. Not only will many of us still be around this weekend, but some of us aren't even interested in the dragon.

Good for you, Mr. Curmudgeon. If you ever drove it in your MINI, you would change your sour tune.

Clo, I've driven the dragon, some time back, in my autocross MGB, which handles better than a Mini. It's a nice drive, but just doesn't compare to other roads I've been on.

I won't be there either (at least as of now). But I drove it back in the fall with some friends of mine. It was great because there weren't many other people on the road, and we got to really experience the dragon without congestion. I want to go to MOTD someday, but to be honest that many people on that road is really kind of scary.

I have an aunt in Knoxville, so if I wanted to go I could always stay with her. Is it possible to go at the last minute? Without registering or anything? I might just show up, we'll see.

Uh huh. You might enjoy it more in your MINI, particularly with all the other MINIs. No matter, motor on your "better" roads and enjoy them.
