The Air Force JROTC has a panel of Vietnam Vets in today to present to the students, I spent my prep in there and I'm going back for lunch. Very interesting.

I never realized how bad the clutch was in my Mini until I replaced it.

Greetings, all.

Derek - how many miles on your original clutch? And what was 'different' about the new one? Does it engage at a different point in the clutch pedal travel or something?

68,800 on the car, I assume it was original. I've driven it about 1,000 miles. Clutch pedal was heavy/stiff/had a higher resistance. It felt normal to me because I've driven mostly older trucks and an NA Miata. If I pressed the pedal very slowly it felt crunchy. I didn't think anything was abnormal until my engagement changed almost to the floor one day. That was the TOB collapsing, which was apparently already on it's way out when I bought the car. Still never really made a "TOB sound."

When I went to start the car with the new OEM clutch/flywheel/TOB/guide tube in it, I slammed the clutch pedal down onto the floor because the pedal is so much lighter now. Whoops.

Hiya there Wandrur. Good to hear from you again. How's life treating you?

Wish I could say things are going well in my world...just had some major wrenches thrown in the proverbial fan. Doing my best to keep my head up and see the good things in life. Also took a month off work to clear my head (good thing I saved up all that leave, right?) after things happened. Without saying too much on a public forum, I've decided to utilize some cards up my sleeve and doing my best to make some major changes in life - some changes that I hope lead to happiness. And don't freak out - I'm keeping my MINI.

I hope life shapes up, D. Won't pry, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious.

Glad you're keeping the MINI, though!

Winter sucks. I can feel its cold grasp creeping in, in the mornings.

June can't come fast enough.

Winter is beautiful and can come and stay as long as it wants.

From the looks of your average climate data, it never really leaves...

Looks like a pretty place to live, though.

I guess it takes all kinds.

I would prefer to not have to effectively shelve my hobbies for over half the year.

Ahhh... winter... the time of long sleeps, toasty fires, books, evergreens looking like they were dipped in confectioner's sugar, shimmering landscapes, and snowshoeing. or the time of everything is brown, frozen and damp and you can't get the cold out of your bones.
I prefer the first and will leave the second soon enough.

I watched a Swedish movie, "A Man Called Ove." It has subtitles but I really enjoyed the movie. It's available on Amazon Prime.

It's based on a book by the man that wrote "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry." That book... OMG... I finished reading that and I cried and told people I wanted a wurse and no one understood me except other people who have read the book. You have to read it, it was so good.
