Oh, same old, same old. Live inside the beltway=too damned many people. Will be working down closer to Fredericksburg soon, though, so hopefully that will give me reason to move into a less populated area.

How's the great white north?

And the rest of us? I see so many MINIs still. Definitely makes me miss mine, but my Jeep makes me happy. Just happy in a slower travel mode.

Just saying hello from a short trip to Colorado! Get to drive a MINI while here, so that's kinda nice.

Nice. I'm the other side of the beltway from you - Frederick. I hate the traffic!

No joke. Other than that, I like it. Mostly.

Nice. What kind of MINI?

Part of me is itching to buy a new MINI (Paceman S All4)...just wishing they did a European Delivery program like they do with BMWs. I emailed MINI-USA and they said they couldn't do it for insurance reasons, due to the fact that people drive on the left in the UK. Seemed to have glossed over my question regarding European Delivery to the BMW center in Munich. (I saw new MINIs in there when I visited in 2010).

My wife got a four-door hardtop earlier in the year.

Sadly, no pics.

Kinda miss the window controls being on the dash... MINI moved them to the door. And the doors are so much shorter on the four door. Still very MINI, though.

All you need to be happy in life is a close friend and a swimming pool full of Cheetos.

Same to you!

I live in Fredericksburg, VA, now, for anyone who cares. :D I much prefer this pace to that of the northern Virginia area, though it does have its tradeoffs.

I'm still in AK...though I am entertaining the thought of taking a job someplace warm for a few years. AK will always be home, but I'm itching for something different.

Do you miss CO at all? There's times where I kinda want to go back for a visit...can't believe it has been 16 years since I lived there.

Definitely miss Colorado, especially the mountains. And the lower humidity.

I'm possibly looking at a move - this time to the midwest. Minnesota has really appealed to me the last few trips over there. I think it's time for a change of scenery. Alaska will always be home but it's not really what I need at this point in my life.

Funny how my car interests tend to go in cycles. I recently added a Volvo back into my stable. Bought a 1996 850 Turbo Wagon in CA. As it turns out, it's a somewhat rare model called a Platinum Limited Edition. Only 1500 were imported to the US, 500 of which were wagons.

I'm planning on making it my new lower-48 road trip car. I sold the previous car ('81 Mercedes 300D) to a friend of mine, who has plans on restoring it.

Will probably be doing a trip to Las Vegas (and vicinity) for Christmas. Been years since I've seen my dad and I think it's a good opportunity for my gf to meet him too.

Morning Beasties...

Sweet Ride Darren! David, my husband, used to drive Volvo wagons, but never seemed to have the time to put into them- so they were always quick turn around.

You still considering a move?

Wandrur, you still in VA? I've been doing a lot of driving back and forth from Maine- and for the first time in decades, I'm avoiding VA- WHERE have all those people come from? We're experiencing a population explosion in Nashville as well, and don't have the infrastructure for it (no public transportation to speak of).

OK- off to get Mom to the airport... Ciao my friends.

TN - yup. Still looking at a move. So far, MN seems like the most appealing option for me. I would have never guessed it in the past, but I think AK is finally wearing down on me in a way that isn't healthy. It will always be 'home' but I really need a change of scenery for a while.

The cars I've been 'in' to have generally been Jeeps, BMWs/MINIs, VWs, Saabs, Volvos, and Mercedes. This new-to-me 850 Wagon is basically the FWD Volvo I've ever had. I owned a different 850 in the past, but I don't really count that as I bought it, did quick maintenance to it, and sold it all within the same week. The other Volvos of my past have all been RWD ones. Looking forward to the change in platforms...and going on some road trips in the near future. I need to get off the island for a while!

V--and anyone, really--if you're ever passing through on I-95, let me know! Living in Fredericksburg these days, and it would be great to see you!

Darren, I'm going to find myself in the same vicinity as you one of these days. I've been joking about Alaska now for a year or more, but if you end up finding your way to the other great white north, I may have to hunt you down there.

In a purely beastie sort of way, of course.

W, sorry bud, but I avoid I-95 like the plague. ESPECIALLY the part between DC and Richmond. Did it last year, and wanted to shoot myself!
Now, I do find myself either west of you (come up 81, which is getting really bad as well), or slightly east, coming across the bridge/tunnel from VA Beach to the tip of the VA peninsula, and then up to Lewes and take the ferry up to/through NJ.

And if either you or Darren decide that the GWN on the Coast is appealing (Maine), let me know! Let the Beastie hunting begin
