Let's talk next cars. :)

Just babbling since it's been kinda stale here at Off-Topic auto's.

Im into the final half of MCS ownership. Within the next 2years,
I am planning to get my next hobby car and will most likely trade-in
the G35C together to make room inside the garage. I don't have
much time to drive 2 hobby cars lately and I want to make half
of my garage into my hobby PDR shop.

I am looking at below.... Mine's definitely going to be a 2door with
V6 or larger, FR or AWD with hard top and will wait until it's in its
2nd year after release.

1) Infiniti G35C (next gen) <- probably first choice
2) Nissan Skyline GT-R
3) Lexus IS500C
4) BMW M-Coupe

Im keeping the M-Coupe as my last choice because i want to
play with J-coupes next and then grab the M-Coupe during BMW's
4th year after most of the bugs are taken care.

wat's yours going to be? :)

Oilman930 Jun 29, 2006 09:53 AM

My top three after the Mini is gone will be (in no particular order)

1. Lotus Elise
2. Pontiac Solstice
3. Alfa Romeo 159

A lot depends on what happens in my life down the road. Would love to stay with an english car but to insure the Lotus in my neck of the woods is quite expensive. Alfa is saying there will be back by the end of 2007. I'm not holding my breath. Buying a GM product, I must be losing my mind.

My MINI is paid for and my Audi is just 6 months into a 36 month lease, they're both less than a year old.....and I'm already looking around. Z4 coupe (M or not) or Cayman (S or not) are at the top of the list. Next generation TT considered also. Or maybe a next gen MINI.

bumble's angel Jun 29, 2006 10:42 AM

I think if I had to choose a car with out the MINI as an option then I would go with the Caliber SRT-4. It is going to be an ugly little monster with 300HP.

Chekm8 Jun 29, 2006 10:43 AM

I'll keep my MINI and add a Smart ForTwo just for fun, already have my big car for my family of 5 a LR3..... I want them all

I could see getting the Smart if it was more economicaly priced. I remember when they first came out in germany, they had a giant gumball machine thing in frankfurt that they had them in. But they were closer to $10K then $25K

yeah, but they are now saying it'll be around $15K when they come to the US in 07/08...

Your getting rid of the MINI? Or keeping it to play with?

mielnicki Jun 29, 2006 04:55 PM

Without a doubt a 2-3 year old Aston Martin DB9.

chows- im undecided. my thread wasn't really a for-sale topic for my
MCS but rather wanting to talk about what next cars others were
thinking about getting (including those that will keep their MINI's). :)

im in no rush to sell my MCS.

yep, none other than a Nissan 240SX hatchback... that'd turn into my full time track car eventually... providing i can get the funds!

if not, then my next car could well be Mitsubishi EVO X

gokartride Jun 30, 2006 01:40 PM

Definitely another MINI....and definitely another Cooper. Might wait till '09 to see what the 50th annivsary brings.

I would consider a Miata, too, but unforseen needs for four seats will probably keep me a MINI owner for quite some time.

Definately looking to get back into the Audi family! If I sell my MCS, then I will get this beauty here. If I don't sell my MCS, I will get an A4 (nextgen). I heard the next gen A4 will be very close to an RS4 in terms of handling.

Just wondering if you were selling in the future, why you weren't considering replacing it with the next generation model?

Now I see your thinking of trading in the G35 and MINI together and get two new cars. Got it:thumbsup:

I cant think that far ahead.:lol::wink: This car was an impulse buy anyway because the wife saw it, liked the size and said buy it even though we didnt' need a new car. I can't see getting rid of it anywhere in the near future and she loves it. Smart cars look cute but I dont know their practicality yet.

Elise is out. I thoroughly looked into it and its just a track toy. Totally impractical for everyday life. Many 05s on the market for less than buying a new MINI because ppl didn't understand how impractical they may be although they do look cool. Elise/Exige is over rated anyway if you look at their Ring times and numbers.

I've tried talking my wife into getting a M4Roadster or coupe but since don't like the BMW thing (we used to have a 320IS).

I guess we will just wait and see ... Lots of interesting cars coming down the road ....
  • Saturn sky turbo ...
  • maybe new Supra?
  • For the rich and famous, the Vette Blue Devil should be coming out to make a real supercar. ...
  • Ford going to make a super Shelby to compete with Z06 engine in a new camaro.
But many way out of my price range:sad:

KennyMooper Jul 5, 2006 06:36 PM

The next-gen CTS looks like it'll be pretty great....but a lot more expensive than a MINI.

Jerseygirl Jul 5, 2006 06:57 PM

No real plans to sell the MCS anytime soon but I am keeping my eye on Volvo's upcoming C30, assuming they price it around the $25k mark that I've read about in the club magazine.

http://www.autoblog.com/media/2005/1...idanbak463.jpg

Just can't resist thinking about getting one since it draws some of its styling cues fromt he 1800ES sitting in my garage right now.

Other considerations could be:

Volvo V50
Dodge Magnum (don't know why, but I just like 'em)
Audi A3

3-4 years ago I would have probably had a BMW or VW on my list but the styling for both companies has gone completely down the toilet since then, IMHO.

My plans are to get a Saturn Sky when the warranty on my MCS runs out. If the Redline version is out by then, and I can afford about $30k, I'll do that, otherwise it will be a $25k regular Sky.

For those who haven't seen the beauty:

Already got my next car after the Mini :).

but after my M3 im thinking M5 or the new M3 with the V8 after its out for atleast a year or 2.

ScuderiaMini Jul 6, 2006 01:03 PM

Ken, I remember talking to you about this couple of weeks ago, you had a very valid point about the sc/tc motors. I am planning to get a rear wheel drive or an awd V6+, 2 door car. I am keeping my options open, but here are the favorites:

1-BMW M-Coupe (love the car and the body is 2.5x more rigid than the Z4)
2-BMW 335ci
3-Audi TT 3.2 quatro DSG (MK2)
4-VW R32 DSG (on the lower side- wife is changing her car too)

kenchan Jul 6, 2006 05:51 PM

^^ yeh, been hanging around my BMW/MINI dealer too much this week.
that Z4 looks mighty fine. coupe version would be very nice. :)

im not so much into convertibles... got too much hair, not very
aerodynamic.
