Kinda wondering what I should do...

Well my friend has his bone stock '93 Supra Turbo up for sale they are rare in this area, so it is a find, it needs some paint work, but more on that later... He offered it to me for 1 grand. I'm wondering whether I should take him up on it, and have lower insurance payments (still keep MINI), and make the thing awesome (no rice or Soy Sauce involved). I was thinking already that if I got it, I would find out the paint codes for the MINI Solar Red body color, and paint it that. Some other mods were going to start with replacing the HUGE single turbo with two smaller ones, making it a twin.

I'm just confused if I should take this chance or not...

The huge turbo is great for going in a straight line. Was this car a TT car originally? I dont know how hard it is to get back to TT.

Sounds like you'll be shelling out far more than $1k, and I assume you;re buying this off a HS student, how hard has it been driven? What has the maintance history been? And I hear they go through shocks quickly and those cost 500 per wheel, when the car was in production. Just things to consider, there are also many other hidden costs, so if you take the leap be prepared.

Well I was just wondering, he bought it from a Toyota dealer in Kalamazoo, MI, and on the way back got a ticket, a very high ticket. Like a $275 dollar ticket. Idiot... anyway, he was going to do all the paintwork himself, but as I found out about the car I had all sorts of visions... And that would cut alot off his projected price of 1500.

I don't know if I'm going to fore go this or not yet, don't know if I'd rather take that same one grand and do something performance or otherwise to the MINI... I WISH they had Solar Red on an MCS, that color is SO sweet. Hmmm, maybe... I don't know.

Something I'd like clarified though is the thing with the one HUGE turbo versus the two smaller ones... I thought the two smaller ones spool up faster making them good for acceleration, while the one BIG turbo is good for top speed? I don't know that much, but my uncle has a 1200hp Twin Turbo Mustang five o dragster and this is what I thought he told me...

I have quite a bit of money in the bank and was thinking of WMS Exhaust, Milltek Header, and some of the new FTR parts that are coming out. Then(well maybe first) I was going to slam it with some Koni Yellows with some H-Sport Springs, and Front and rear swaybars. I couldn't believe how much of a difference they made in the ride of agokart's ride so I plan to do it with mine. Then I was planning on adding some chrome goodies to the outside of my ride: fog and parking light inserts, hatch handle cover, some black Ultimate rear grills, and a few other things.

Maybe I should just stick with the MINI...

If they're rare and you want it, get it. No rule says you have to start pouring money in it right away. Maybe drag the project out over the next 5 or 10 years.

Got some good news and bad news. I found out that it wasn't the same bodystyle Supra I was thinking of the body style I like is in the latter '90s this one is early '90s and is typical for that era: Cheap plasticky, boxy, look, that hardly has the gentle curves of the latter '90s Supras. So.... looks like I will have more money for the MINI and my girlfriend.

"Sometime low price = no bargain"

A thirteen year old turbocharged vehicle that has made its way down to bottom feeder territory (HS students) is a receipe for disaster. Even if the car hasn't been abused (highly unlikely) is most assuredly hasn't received the proper maintenance, especially preventative. If you are looking for a LONG TERM investment (like keeping it for the next 20 years) it might be worth it. But if you are dreaming of a kewl cruizer for this summer, keep on dreaming, 'cuz it aint gonna happen.

nah, i would not. Spend money on wiser things, and the best money is the money in the bank

that is going to cost you moreeeee than you can even imagine, and die as an unfinished project
