I can't belive you just compared a prototype race car engine with a Mustang engine.

Oh, did I mention that this new engine has 650bhp and 811ft/lbs ?

well, if its less than 350 cubes, it usually doesnt interest me.

it took 2 turbos and direct port injection to get 650 horse out of a v12?

I could understand a Mustang guy to not raise a brow when the engine isn't big.

Only reason it has 650hp is because it's limited by the rules. If it wasn't, well... They will easily get 900hp.

I wonder if there is rule for fuel type... since Diesel definitly have better mpg than Gasoline.... The R10 should has fewer pit times than others, is that fair?

No rules against fuel type. Audi has been wanting to race with a diesel for some time now, because of its better efficiency over gasoline.

Audi knows what they are doing, they have enough technical engineering brilliance to pull this off! 24hrs of stress...try that on a mustang engine.

They will never go at this half-assed or half-baked. After dominating the LMP1 class for so long, they have to have a new benchmark to prove themselves. Great product. I'm waiting for the new Porsche thats running in the LMP2 class. Once that gets sorted out I think that will replace the RS8 for a while if they choose to jump up classes. At least endurance racing can be exciting now and again.

I havent found it exiting lately at all.

There are too many restrictions just like Nascar. Its just a watered down version of what it once was.

I agree on this one and I do think that F1 is still the King.

Porshce's RS spyder debut was at the Laguna Seca in the ALMS series. This was some time ago, and I think it took 4th overall and 1st in class. I saw the race on tv and it is just awesome watching Porsche race in the P class again..

Check out mid 70s GP cars...

A bit over 2.5 litres, and over 1500 HP. 60-70 lbs boost helped though. Outlawed by rules.

WRC Group B cars, like the Lancia with SC and Turbo. Wayyyyyyyyyyy fast, and small motors. I'm a detroit iron guy as well, but just upping CIs with the crappy pushrod heads isn't technology, it's brute force (and not that good at it either, when compared to todays motors).

The Next Shelby Mustang is a 5.4 or 5.7 liter modular motor with a centrifugal blower and about 450 HP. It's smaller than the 428PIs in the old GT 500s, and will smoke them all day long....

Matt
