Top Gear TV in the US
I personally love Top Gear.
The show is very cynical and really does bash some of the cars that it reviews. I must agree with the opinion on the Vette. I am definately not a Vette person and I think their built quality is poor. I had an 89 convertible and it was really poor quality. Fast yes, build quality... poor. It clunked, creaked and it was all plastic. The performance was typically american muscle car, which was cool, but no refinement. I must say I did like the brake system.
As far as Clarkson, he must be the world's #1 cynic. Very good opinions and very matter of fact.
Anyone have any idea who the Stig might be ?

The Discovery versions of this show blows unfortuneately, they have to change all the music due to licensing issues in the USA and of course they cut out all the funny British banter the hosts have for the most part. I still watch it, but I'm hoping that Discovery will create new shows with new segments if the current "version" does well.
Oh well, one can hope. But for now, I'll keep getting the bittorrents of current episodes

At least they are showing it! Frankly I'm impressed by the amount of time that goes into their filming. The music, the editing, the cuts...it's all to impressive. Yes, they're hopping around a bit between episodes from the 04 and 05 season but they're not far off. Another bittorrent user here who gets them weekly from mininova.
The best thing about Top Gear is that they're not sponsored by anyone hence they are BRUTALLY honest about any car they drive.

Yes, the honesty is refreshing. I especially liked the episode a few weeks back where they ripped the Mazeratti Spider a new one. I couldn't stop laughing.
I once took a graphics design class. The instructor either started, or worked for one of the bigger US car magazines back in the day. A really nice guy. I asked him how come you never read anything negative in the car magazines, no matter how crappy the car is. He just smiled and explained that it would not be prudent to alienate the advertisers....

I stumbled across Top Gear last night and it was great.
They had a contest to see which would take longer;
A team of mechanics had to replace brakes, shocks, springs, control arms, drive line, clutch and gearbox on a rally car,
and 4 Pirelli girls had to get ready to go out to dinner.
Guess who won
