What was the car you learned to drive?

'76 International Scout Traveller.

Not a pic of our actual car but same color and messed up front quarter.
Dad bought this new in '76. This thing was a tank and could go just about anywhere. Hated it when I was 16 and took my test in it in '87. But I really came to love it. It could take me and about 10 of my closest friends lots of places. Wish I still had it.

If you don't count the tractors, I guess it would be my Dad's 1947 Chevy Fleetmaster.

'64 Ford Fairlane wagon. 260 cube V-8 (like a Tiger!) with three on the tree. Yes, I did try to drag race with it. Yes, old as dirt...

1941 Dodge Weapons Carrier.
Not this one, but very similar. We still have it, maybe a restoration project someday.

I learned to drive on a custom made car. I was 9 years old and we built a Mini sized car out of a Crosley for me (which was already a tiny car). It was a tiny overhead cam 4 cylinder with three speed trans and air type wheel barrow tires, diamond plate fenders and the original cable brakes! It had no real body, so was more like a mini car with no body.
1959 was a stellar year for me, as I also got a D2 Caterpillar and a Honda step through 50cc motorbike! I was one happy 9 yr old!

Ha! I had a new '73 Super Beetle. Yellow with mag wheels and a Hurst shifter. Loved that car.
