Getting rid of my Honda

Hey guys, looking for advise. I want to give my buyer a good deal but I also want to get some money out of selling my Civic. What are some tips/tricks to selling your car and getting the most out of it?

Here's a link to my Craigslist post:
http://denver.craigslist.org/car/698552338.html (cars & trucks)

Thank you,
RS_man

The link didn't pull up.

Main thing, make it CLEAN.

If it is easy for you, take the carpet out, clean it with
oxyclean in the spray bottle and the hose.

Scrub the seats really good. If they are leather, re-dye them.
It's not hard or expensive. You could re-dye the carpet too.
Definately if your rear deck thing has faded.

If you have black trim/grill/mirrors, paint them.
Use primer first.

If you are really industrious you can do most of that in one
really long day.

Except the carpet has to dry out so actual times will be more than a day.

DANG!

I thought you were selling something like I drive......

MAN! YOU TOOK CARE OF THAT THING!

Forget anything I mentioned above.
That's stuff you do to your E36 BMW.
or ancient civic.

You might want to put the mpg in the add.
Also, put that it doesn't use oil and has given no problems.
(assuming that is true, and I believe looking at it that
it would be)

You might also want to say why you are selling it.

People look for that stuff in those adds.
"Has been a flawless car, uses no oil, gets 42 mpg.
I'm selling it because my wife is pregnant and we need
something with 4 doors"

That sort of thing.

That is a good idea. I should put something in there about having to pay student loans. Something that will strike a sentimental cord with people.

I have someone interested in it but they are unwilling to go above the kelley blue book value, and they already talked me down to 11600. I want to get my Mini as soon as I can but I don't believe that I can manage this guys offer of 10500. I have until the end of July to sell my Civic.

Should I bide my time on this one?
