Trade MINI for S2000?

so i'm thinking about trading in my 02 mini s 58k miles for a 02 s2000... what do you guys think?? mpg is pretty close and the s2k is so much sexier.. not to mention faster... plus i can get a used s2k for 13k or lower... i dont care about milage since ill be rebuilding the motor anyways.. only thing i would be giving up is trunk space and going to a two seater.. but i do have another car .. a sr20det 240sx and it has a back seat.. hmm.. thoughts?

RWD, 9k rpm, best slick shifting manual transmission ever in a production car, razor-sharp handling, honda reliability and open air driving. sounds good to me!

i'd get a 03 though b/c of the glass rear window. AP2s from 2004+ on.

Hum....the S2000 is certainly a blast and fast - I traded mine for a MINI Cabrio though. Apples and Oranges - I never looked back - but do what makes YOU happy. Honda's are great, reliable cars.....

The S2000's form of power is totally unusable on the street. You have to get it above 5k to get it to really go anywhere. And by than, you look like a tool. If you want RWD performance in a top down car, buy a beat Miata and do a 5.0 swap.

But if they come out with a awd mini then im getting that lol .. See my thoughts were .. 04 sti.. 94 Supra tt.. 94 Rx7...or a 01 s2k and I think the s2k is the best choice in reliability .. Mpg and cost... Can u guys think of anything better then a s2k that's under 15k ??

s2k's are awesome! if you want a straight trade, you should just browse the s2k forums and message boards and find potentials there. trading w/ any kind of car dealer will get you ripped off

Dood...your all over the place in terms of useability.....lol. My top three in order would be the Supra TT, STi then the Rx7. But a Supra TT is still gonna run you 40K eventhough its old as dirt. If I ever got an older car...it would be a 95 Supra TT. Then the Sti. HANDS DOWN. Maybe an EVO X. But as you can see..the prices are sky high. Not exactly what I would do in this pic..but its PURE SEX nonetheless...

well in terms of usability and reliability, the subaru is probably #1. you can terrorize 3 friends in relative comfort (or as much as in any econobox) and subies are very robust

my buddy just got an 03 s2000 and yeah it's super fun car but I have to warn
you that after the first couple of days and you get used to the car, it's unbelievably uncomfortable.

and s2000s are known to make noises (cabin, ticking etc). And the 01/02 are really raw compare to later models 03+.

If it's going to be your only car, I would recommend the ap2.
it's a way different beast with way more refinement.

Have you checked out insurance rates on the S2000? It is rated as a sports car. I was looking at S2000's when I bought my MINI & the rate was almost double to insure the S2000 over the MINI

I would pass on the s2k, I "spotted" a s2000 and there was no difference in acceleration as far as faster (topend they have the mc easy) Mpg is all in the foot. Price........you could pick up one for cheep because the previous owner has beat it down, and KEEP THE 240 Sr20det but let me drive it (i had a 200sx sr20ve) RWD goodness

the s2k puts down like.. what.. 200whp?

I wonder if a MCS with 15 pulley/intake/exhaust and little bit of weight reduction can walk on the s2k...

There are 2 incarnations of the S2k that i know of, the H20 and H22. The H series engine is widely know ans a high reving machine (its red line is 9k/8.5k) but i think they make something in the 245hp area(i could be wrong). Its light weight frame is where it shines the low weight mix with the power full engine makes for a good power to weight ratio. It is a real shame that Hondo never made a Si s2000 or a type R. It was weird and it looked to much like a Mx5. The holy H needed something to fill its RWD sports car category after the Nsx died But now Honda is thinking about reinventing the NSX so death to s2000.

sometimes its not about the power, just the look and when you drop the top on that car. The world just whooshes away!

i love the s2k even though my legs rub the steering wheel, i would take it if i could fit properly.

actually, they use the F20c in the 01-03 vehicles, and in the 04+ vehicles they use the F22c; but you are correct about the Redlines.

I used to drive one (was my dad's, but my mom hated driving it as a DD, so she swapped with me, I was one lucky bastard! That was the car I learned to drive a stick on.)

Any way, we had a 2003; it was extremely fun to drive, would have preferred more torque, felt a bit weak at take-off and you almost always hit v-tec. Also, it sucks *** in the rain.

As a DD it was not bad at all, as long as you didn't have to carry anything too large. I had to buy foamcore boards all the time, and they had to ride on top of my head between it and the top.

It was a really simple car, no major problems while we owned the vehicle. I also love that the majority of the controls in the car are at your fingertips (you don't have to take your hands off the steering wheel!

Sebring Silver is the best color, and again, I would suggest an 03 model for the glass rear window. It also has a defroster.
