At least no matter how sick you are, you can still get treatment without paying $1000 or more a month just to get the coverage

Wrong. It's tuned either 91minimum at the factory, unless you retuned it on your own.
What it really means is that you should be pumping 93 if it's in your area. If you're pumping 100 youre basically wasting your money as those extra octanes are wasted running at engine with timing set @ 91 minimum. If you want to enjoy the benefits of 100 octane, you should have your entine retuned somewhere so you will be able to see a lot more HP on the dyno without touching any internals or increasing boost.
Edit: just noticed you have MC, so definitely no boost for you and pretty much no need for 100 octane

Look bud I'm no stranger to cars or MINIs and how they work.I didn't post in this thread to hear opinions on why you think I shouldn't use higher than recommended octane gas in my MINI.The threads title is how much people are paying for gas.Let's stay on topic here!
Edit: MC or MCS(i've owned both) NOTHING is wasted on my MINI's.

Cool, but don't complain that you paid $6.99 /gallon if you don't have to.
It's little different for people who don't have choice but to fill up with 100octane because they're tuned for it. You on the other hand don't have to and whine because you do.

on the other hand, gas just creeped over $4.00 by me

$4.10 per gallon here in Miami. (Shell V-power)

Today the barrel of oil is trading @ $126...we are SOL. At this rate $5 gal gas is just around the corner.

4.35 gallon at a "gas sale" at my local BP. Oddly enough the 93 was labeled as shell v-power. Kinda annoys me, 3 days before it was 4.10 a gallon at the same station.

Haha, when I ran back and forth to LA every day (70 miles round trip) I was paying $550 a month in gas... In my MINI...

Seriously... I'd rather pay $8 a gallon for gas and have free healthcare than spend 140 bucks a month for medical insurance (Oh, and I still have to cover the first $5k out of pocket before it kicks in).

hey is it true that people are driving slow due to the higher prices in gas?

there were so many nuckleheads on pos cars going down 2 lane roads that i
had to pass today. 40mph in a 55. 35mph in a 45 etc. pretty annoying.
