Every month, my work hosts a hybrid clinic and Tesla brings one of their cars to show off. The car has only tow gears: forward and reverse, but get this: it can go 140 mph in reverse!! San Carlos was right next door to a previor employer of mine (Menlo Mazda) and I'd see them driving them around all day long, with lap tops and gizmos and guys in lab coats working out hte kinks. Tesla is building its first retail store in Redwood City, opening soon. They are also going to introduce a sedan!!! Right now the sports car gets 250 miles of a single charge, and they tested it in Tahoe, on inclines to really get a handle on its range! One of the engineers told me by then (back in 10/2007) Tesla has over 600 preorders for the supercar. Nevermind that, at my work we have over 900 reservations for the Plug-In-Prius, also coming out soon!! Well, at least the Cooper still gets great gas mileage!
Last night I filled up my '05 MCS.... $3.99/gal for Shell V-Power 93 octane. 12 gallons more or less.... Final bill $52.00 Thankfully I am managing 28 MPG and the last tankful lasted me 375 miles. Yes I am driving like grand ma... speed limit and cruise control. Really helps with the mileage and to stay out of trouble. This is in Miami, FL by the way.
MINIs are great but I think I'd rather have a Tesla right now: The Tesla
$92K grand for a new Tesla, only a 2 seater with virtually no cargo/passenger room? No thanks. It would take you at least 30 years of driving to break even!
Since I haven't filled up in about 2 weeks (I live 3 miles from work), I decided to look at the prices at the gas station I drive by every day...
$3.85 (92 octane)
West Chester, PA

Ok ok.. obviously you're right, but come on how about a plug in cooper? Electric motors develop peak torque instantly... Imagine that in a cooper
Today was my most expensive fill up ever! $55 from Costco @ $4.01 a gallon. Was in LA last week off Melrose $4.79 a gallon?!?!? I really have to start changing my driving style............$50.00 a week really not fun especially since it goes to waste in commuting......
SUV drivers don't deserve a smile IMO.
These are the people increasing demand and therefore increasing prices.
Their massive vehicles will impart twice the forces of acceleration on me when they decide to rear end me. (luckily that day has not come)
