There appears to be a new outlet for 93 and 100 octane fuel in the Bay Area. It is the gas station in the Rancho Shopping Center on Foothill Expressway at Magdalena/Springer in Los Altos. The price for 100 was $7.00 a gallon - a nice treat for your special someone at holiday time.
Does your Mini run hot on the 100 octane? and can you run 100 straight in a Cooper S?
Why would it run hot? 100 octane doesn't burn any hotter than 87 octane.... it's just less likely to pre-ignite (knock)... so the right question might be "does your MINI run better in extremely hot or hard driving conditions with 100 octane than with 91 or 93?" It's possible, but I'd think the car would have to be tuned (and probably modded) to take advantage of the extra octane under most conditions.
But, YES, you can run 100 octane (or 1000 octane if you could get it) in a stock MINI - higher octane doesn't hurt anything - though lower octane can...
