No, the greatest thing ever is seeing our Governator's photo hanging on the wall behind the information desk at the DMV.

That's what I thought when I saw my new Michigan title but apparently that is the official DMV designation for the marque.

eenieMini Feb 12, 2007 06:56 PM

Yep... my registration paper is printed MNNI... too strange, maybe its to differentiate with the original Minis?

After thinking about it the other day that was my guess too. Any original Mini owners know for sure?

zied Feb 12, 2007 08:01 PM

The originals would not say Mini at all but possibly Austin Mini, Rover or BMC Mini or something like that. Mini was never a brand prior to the BMW aquisition.

LarryP Feb 12, 2007 08:31 PM

My Austin Healey is AHEAL:grin:

everytimeidie027 Feb 12, 2007 08:34 PM

I thought only my papers were messed up, I guess they all say MNNI

jjtricket Feb 12, 2007 08:41 PM

Same in GA

NinerCat Mar 12, 2007 04:16 PM

 Had no idea this was anything but a typo. Wonder WTF they need to list it as anything other than MINI for. It's not as if the VIN's don't differentiate them enough.... :sly: Eejits.

Just did my CA DMV registration the other day, and mine said the same thing. Made me laugh, and think of this thread.

Same deal here in CT. At first I thought it was my genius MA, but I guess not!

eVal Mar 12, 2007 06:51 PM

Yeah, I'm guessing MINI was used already to denote the classic or something like that..

stuttgart1 Apr 2, 2007 03:13 PM

"me me" what the....

I'm really hating myself for not thinking of that plate number right now:nod:

it's awesome and you should take pride in knowing there's a nerd out there envying your plate lol

IsAMini Apr 3, 2007 05:35 AM

In OH it is a MIN

Loony2N Apr 3, 2007 05:48 AM

My guess would be that "MINI" means something in the code world of DMVs. Can anyone suggest what such a code would mean? (Hey... this could be a new game thread!!)

memphis9k Apr 3, 2007 06:37 AM

my 07' registration just came last week and it said " mini " i wonder if dmv found out that they cant spell.

 DMV's all over the country finally rented a clue!

Loony2N Apr 3, 2007 10:14 AM

Hmmm. Maybe there is a universal car code list. Maybe somewhere there is a guy sitting at a desk whose job it is to come up with them, like the guy who names hurricanes... And maybe he made a typo........

hello! lol.

Yea I was trying to think of somethink geek-ish to do but couldn't think of anything realistic (I though of doing MINI in binary but that would be way to long) I might do MINI in hex, it's only 8 characters, 7 if I get rid of a redundent 0.

I'll think of something lol
