MINIs ONLY Driving Skills School - Loudon NH
So you know how to drive?
Or have you picked up bad habits over the years? Would you like to know how your MINI will respond in an emergency?
Would you like a young driver to improve his or her skills in a safe environment and with an experienced instructor in the car?
Or would you just like to have a great time with other MINI enthusiasts who also want to learn how to be a better “motorer”?
If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, then The White Mountain Chapter of the BMW CCA’s “MINIs only” Advanced Driving Skills School is for you!

Our goal is to help drivers become better, plain and simple.
We figured that MINI motorers (count me among them) not only enjoy their cars but also like to enjoy them while in the company of other MINI motorers. So why not have a school dedicated to MINIs?
Hope you'll join us!

GREAT NEWS ! ! !
So far, there are 22 MINIs signed up for the first ever MINIs Only ADSS!
This is shaping up as an exceptional event ~ outstanding instructors, great friends and a wonderful learning experience.
The school is hosted by enthusiasts of the BMW CCA White Mountain Chapter. MINI of Peabody and Concord Motorsports are sponsoring lunch and an "after the school" snacks/drinks, too.
So, if you haven't signed up yet, go to: MotorsportReg.com : Register > Adv Driving Safety Skills School for Minis
If you have signed up, invite a friend or family member to join you. The more MINIs, the merrier.

Basically: a little chalk-talk, straight line braking, braking and turning, lane change, wet skidpad, wet figure-8 skidpad, and a little autocross thrown in at the end. You have an instructor in the car for the skidpad and autocross excercises.

For someone without much driving experience, or little time in the MINI, this is a great course because you'll learn how the car reacts when you provide input like hard braking (with or without an avoidance maneuver) or experience unexpected under- or oversteer.
For someone with experience, having an instructor helps you to refine those skills and maybe break some bad habits.
As Jason says, this is all in a very positive learning environment. The autocross is by no means competitive. You'll never get out of second gear (maybe not even first, the course will be that tight). The point is to bring the things learned during the day together into the one exercise.

The White Mtn. Chapter won't do another MINIs ONLY ADSS until next year. However, the chapter (and other BMW CCA chapters) host these schools several times a year. By now, I suspect each event has at least a couple MINIs.

Space for 5 More MINIs!
From Dave T:
Final arrangements were underway last night at the White Mountain Chapter event committee meeting. Looks like 23 MINIs are signed up so far, and there is still room for 5 more.
I understand things may be a bit busy at NHIS this weekend as there is an SCCA regional event on the main track. They will be trying to do MINIs registration in the booth at the main entrance (its just on the left as you enter NHIS). Look for a sign on the booth windows.
If they do not have enough window space in the booth for us, you may end up having to just sign the NHIS waiver there (at the last window) and then drive in an over to Lot I (its past the main gate, down the hill, and then off to the right). There should be at least a sign if not someone to direct you where to go. Starting time should be about 8:30, but it never hurts to show up 10-15 minutes before that to get your car ready.
Expect to see an email this week from the registrar, Tara Coffin, with more details.
