Happened late last night.

Closing I-95 for two weeks through Bridgeport. This is sure to **** off the 120,000 commuters that use this stretch every day... thank god I'm not one of 'em.

I-95 closed

Amazingly enough, this is not the first time that I-95 has been closed like this. Back in 1983, the Mianus River Bridge just down the Interstate a bit in Greenwich collapsed and killed 3 people. It happened at night and several cars and a truck drove right off it before they realized that the road ended.

I used this as an excuse back then to find another way from MA to NYC...and have never gone back to driving 95 through Connecticut. An even better idea given what happened last night....

This completely screwed my commute. I'm 8 exits north of this and go through that section every single day. Oh well. I'll just take two trains and walk two miles to and from my office every day for a while.
Freaking 18 year old girl in a Corolla caused the whole thing. And once this is all cleaned up her insurance will still be lower than mine. IS THERE NO JUSTICE??!!!

This was a good one. Apparently the fire was so hot that it melted the steel girders supporting the bridge. That's freakin' hot.

And for the record, 95 in Conn is the worst road in the USA.

I-95 in Fairfield County is probably the worst in the US during rush hour. Been through 495 in DC during rush hour. At least some civility exists down there. But you also have to factor in the weather in CT.

Not bragging. But complaining helps.

And what is with Exit 15 (crowded before, empty after for 1/4 mile.)
