Ah SCREW VW! C'mon Doug - be a MINI man. Send a postcard to you VW friends. Your EB will LOVE these hills.

13 sec. will totally dig them. Wicked turns. And everyone up here wil be so pleased by your participation!

If you are looking for a central meeting place in CT, to gather prior to driving up to Litchfield, CT I would suggest Marcus Dairy. Its right off Interstate 84 on Route 7. Or hey, you could all meet at my house and we could take all the back country roads up to Litchfield. I live in Newtown, CT, exit 9 off Int84

Doug-
You are going to miss some SERIOUS driving. I have some nasty roads planned out. Just ask GMINIO and Antsmini. You have to come...

I would LOVE to take a few down or up Obtuse Rocks Road. I think it's one of the best the area has to offer by far. Marcus was the meeting place for the 12mdc meet this may. Something new please. And that may be exactly what your house could be. Thanks!

Well Litchfield is about 45min from Danbury. Don't know a time from Long Island though. Doug, you really have to go, the roads are twisty and fast.

Obtuse Rocks Road! What a great name. It certainly SOUNDS twisty.

Geez, give Doug a break; it's not like he's going to an Aztek convention or a Hummer mudfest!

I grew up in Nassau, LI and now live in Newtown, CT. From the Roslyn/Manhasset area of LI it takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to Danbury, exits 1 through 5 on INT84. My house, in Newtown, CT (exit 9 on INT84) is 10 miles, about 10 minutes from Danbury. Its approximately 30 minutes (a beautiful back country Connecticut road)to the center green in Litchfield, CT. CooperSpeed would need to guid us from the town green in Litchfield.
Directions From LI To Newtown, CT
1. Cross Island Parkway North to Throgs Neck Bridge.
2. After Pay Toll stay in the right hand lanes follow signs to England Thruway (95)
3. Important: Although you are to follow the signs to New England Thruway (95)
you take the exit for the Hutchinson River Park North (exit is about 8 miles from bridge toll)
4. Remain on Hutchinson River Parkway North for about 20 to 25 minutes.
5. Take Left Hand exit markerd for Brewster, NY, this will be highway 684 North
6. Stay on 684 North for approximately 30 minutes, take right hand exit to Danbury (84 North/East)
7. Take 84 to Newtown exit #9. Turn right at bottm of ramp. At first traffic signal (1/4 mile) turn left onto #25
8. Stay on #25 for 3 miles. You will see a hugh flag pole in the middle of the street, turn right at flag pole. It will look like you are turning into a parking lot because there is no streeet sign (welcome to Connecticut!). You will be turning onto West Street
9. Approximatley 1/10 of a mile bear left at fork in road
10. At top of hill, approxmately 1/10th of a mile more, turn left onto Topside La.
This is a dead end street with only three houses on it, we are the yellow house on the left.
Anyone interested in leaving from my home in Newtown, CT let me know as soon as possible.

ice Jun 16, 2003 01:19 PM

We'll join you. We live in Newtown also.

We actually live on an 80 acre farm so if you'd like to meet there, we have room enough so the neighbors won't get pissy. Let me know.

Hank Jun 16, 2003 01:22 PM

Sounds good to me, more area for parking!

When we have a time for the Litchfield meet, I guess we'll make a time for us to all get together.

Time and place are posted - check out the first page of that thread.

Do we have to live on LI to do that?

I USED to live on the guy'land. Does that count? Since I had people met at my place for Mt Wash, can I bring our crew over to your place now?

We are a clean crowd. Many are charter members, or recent sign-ups, or even wanna-be's of the MRC. We promise not to put our colors on until after weleave your neighborhood.

Think of the pride in your wife's eyes as she tries to explain to the neighbors why her husband is going driving with the 20 other MINIs who were in the driveway that morning.

We can be there by 8, if that is ok

David
