Stream audio without Connected?
Is this possible? I do have the Bluetooth connected to my phone (Nokia Lumia 900). Is there some sort of adapter or something available to be able to stream audio? I'm currently using the aux jack, but would love to get rid of some wires...

Pretty sure the answer is no. You could get an FM transmitter, but that has its share of wires.
Does it have to be from your phone? Have you considered a USB drive? That's obviously not an option if you're trying to use Pandora, but if you're just playing music stored on your phone, a small USB drive is the way to go. |
Thanks for the reply. I probably will just go the USB route, but was hoping to be able to use the various music apps on my phone. I knew I shouldn't have talked myself out of Connected!!

I posted this on the main countryman talk page but it applies
For me I bought this product...it is really not a bad price considering what it does. It pairs easily over bluetooth and then you are good to go. I have it in my value edition Jetta and it makes life easy and I can stream anything wirelessly over Bluetooth...It sounds decent too...plus it can charge your phone at the same time over its USB input, has a 3.5mm in if you have something an iPod, and you can make calls etc  http://www.amazon.com/FlexSMART-Tran...d_bxgy_e_img_c |
Thanks Kispian, how does it work near cities, etc? I've had something similar for my old iPhone and the reception varied but that could very well be what I'm looking for...

Also realized I should put in the disclaimer...I do not work for Accessory Power, or receive any compensation for recommending them. Just an owner with a good experience so far. Hope this helps... |
Awesome, sounds promising. Thanks for the info!

I found this and just placed an order. Has anyone used this? I'll let you know how it works when I get it:

https://www.icarkits.com/cars/MINI_C...AN_2011/BTUNVS Got it today. My initial opinion is 'meh'. Volume is very low even with phone volume and stereo volume jacked way up. I'll give it a few days of fiddling and see how it goes... |
If you have an audio jack, you can buy a 3.5mm Bluetooth Receiver and plug it into the jack. Search "3.5mm bluetooth receiver" at Amazon. I still use the cables, but am thinking about trying one of these to stream wirelessly. The fact that Mini didn't build this into the Bluetooth makes me scratch my head still.

This product is quite good and works well with my Lumia 900 over bluetooth.

Yea, plugs into the CD changer port in the boot of the car, route the cable to the glovebox and route the microphone to the grill in the headliner (I moved the mic grill to the drivers side).
You might want to get some ferrite clamps from Radio Shack to help with lowering noise over the long cable run. |

WAIT!
I just checked DICE's site and they say it's not compatible with the Countryman. So I can't garuntee that it will work, mostly because I didn't realise I was in the Countryman forum. SORRY ABOUT THAT! Edit: I feel like an ass. Really sorry! |
Mine will be here tomorrow, so I'm still going to give it a whirl and see if it works. If not, it's easily returned through Amazon, so I'm not too worried about it...

it doesn't state it's compatible with newer Mini's can anyone confirm this?

Well, I can definitely confirm it does not work with a 2012 Countryman. I received it yesterday and there's just no way to make it work that I could see. |
Just bought the GoGroove Bluetooth receiver that plugs into the 3.5mm plug. It's very small and is supposed to last 12 hours on the charge. Out of the box, a very good product. The only downside is the charger is not a mini- or micros-USB.
I am using a Griffin dual USB charger plugged into the front lighter socket and a retractable USB charger (versus the Mini-supplied Y-cable). I bought a ProClip mount that sits to the right of the CD slot. |
