Has Anyone Bought Navteg's $199 2006.2 Upgrade for their 2004 DVD-based nav system?
I'd appreciate hearing from any Mini owners who have bought the $199 Navteq 2006.2 upgrade for their 2004 DVD-based nav system.
Particularly: Did you notice any changes in functionality? If so, what? Did installation involve anything more complicated than slipping the disc into the underseat nav unit? Does the Mini winged logo still appear on the screen every time the car door is opened?
Thanks to one and all.

The 2006.2 Navteq update is just a map update. It doesn't add functionality. It just updates maps and information locations.
The v.27 NAV update is new software. It adds input via zipcode, 3D view, new icons, auto clearing nag screen (after a minute or so) and a few other things. I believe I've heard that some new 06's are shipping with v.27, so your dealer ma be able to update your firmware for you.

The other new features of V27 do work with any map disc though.

Thanks for the info, Supergimp. But can you tell me: Is the Navteq 2006.2 update a new DVD disc that replaces the one presently under the passenger seat? Or is it a more complicated process than that to get the map updates?
Thanks.
Joe

So far I have noticed the new DVD is great when going in areas when you don't have a clue where you are. Or your horrible with directions (LIKE ME).
I am running the V27 with the 2006 DVD and it is quick and much easier to use then my original versions.
