Good 6x9 replacement for HK

I am thinking of doing the HK upgrade and want to replace the 6x9 speakers (the ones I can get is from a convertible so it is a 6"?). What would be a good replacement that will match the HK fronts?

If you're going to install the HK system I don't think there's any point trying to match the fronts - because the HK amp puts out different signals to front & rear, tailored to the original speakers.
You might want to search for someone who has taken the HK 6x9s out and get them - in any case you need 2 ohm dual voice coil speakers!

Is there a good replacement for all of the speakers then?

When i dropped a new set of speakers in my 05, i went Infinity Kappa to try them out, but went back to reference in my 04.

I did run the Infinitys in an HK car too, i used the other two extra sets of wires for my line out converter.

did you put kappa 6x9's in the back in place of the hk 6x9's? if so, how'd that work out?

I'm curious because I've got a pair of 3-way kappa 6x9s in my old car...

Yep, thats what I did.

They sounded better, more crisp. the paper cone HK speakers are just as cheap as standard stereo speakers.

you will have a set of extra wires though, as Ian said, the stock HK speakers are DVC.

I used the extra wires for my Line Out converter. Then I added an amp and a set of 10 inch Reference subs. (2005 series, the best line of infinity products I have ever used)

by "more crisp" do you mean with better treble, or cleaner bass? Doesn't the HK DSP just send bass frequencies to the rear 6x9's?

It also seems that by not utilizing the DVC setup the Kappas would not put out much volume?
