I've been waiting to show this off for a while the sub is a Rockford Fosgate P3S412 a 12 inch shallow mount. We built the box so that it has 1.1 cubic feet of air space, the amp recommends .7 or 1.3. We erred on the side of caution, but probably could have gotten it a half inch shorter and still have been good. It sits flush with the rear seats went folded down. I painted the sub grill hot pink for fun.

You know looking back on my install I would have put my Apline PDX 5 channel amp under one of my seats. They are so small and generate so little heat it can pretty much be tucked away anywhere. That would allow more room to spread the box out lower and wider for a cleaner install back there and make battery access easier also.

This is my first post on the forum. I just bought an 06 R53 MCS and this is also my first custom sub box ever. I liked the idea of Integral Audio's box plus top but just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for it, so I designed and built my own version. The amp is a HFi1000.1D and it's installed under the driver seat. I am 6" tall and wouldn't be able to scoot much forward anyways to allow a passenger behind me so I figured on the floor would be fine. The speakers are D10F Boss 10" Phantoms. They are a shallow mount sub with a depth of 3-3/8". The corrugated sheet metal is 16 gauge, liquid nails fastened and is inset in the 1/2" plywood the thickness of the sheet metal so when it's carpeted you wouldn't see the 12" by 12" squares. The edge of the board on top has weather stripping around the edge to make it soft and give it a snug fit in the back so it doesn't move around much when the subs are thumpin'. It's 16 gauge sheet metal so I don't have to worry about things puncturing the subs if tossed in the back. Anyways, enjoy the pics. Any questions about the build I will try to answer.

Here are a few photos of our Model 1101S Subwoofer for the MINI, which fits all 1st gen MINIs as well. Happy to answer any questions.

I decided to keep the head unit. If you keep it you have to splice a line convertor to your speaker wires heading out of the head unit. The lije convertor takes regular wire and converts it into rca. I took the rear left and rear right speakers and added it to them. Aftermarket head units have sub out already in the back in rca form.

All our systems are designed to work with the factory head units, but will also work with aftermarket units. 1st/2nd Gen and Standard/HK-HiFi systems are each a bit different. Our kits come with everything you need, and our soon-to-be released Soundstage and new 1102 Subwoofer system will be shipping with Plug-n-Play OEM wiring harnesses.
