New aftermarket GPS's

As we all know, electronics change daily. I have search/read some old post on GPS's, and am looking for the newest ideas and opinions. I have an old eMap, that I'm considering replacing. Have looked at the Garmin Quest (like the portibility and price) and the Garmin 2610. What are other opinions and where have you located them.

I understand the Quest has a speaker limitation, but I wonder how bad it really is and how much I would care to be interrupted by a voice.

I finally settled on the TomTom Go 300. Love it. Extremely easy to use. No major problems with accuracy of maps. Matches interior perfectly.

I use Streets and Trips with the supplied GPS, cheap accurate, easy to hide in the glovebox and the feature I like most, I spend most of the time w/ off so I can go motoring, to find new roads. It's easy to update and I can check to avoid road work.

Try a sextant. You can shoot the stars, get a fix and motor on

Of course, it is a bit rough when its raining. But just think, you dont have to search for those silly satellites!

You can even paint your sextant the color of your car ... make the perfect motoring accessory, perhaps as a holiday GIFT!

Currently I have better than a sextant, I have my own version of OnStar. She sits next to me saying, "Do you know where we are? Weren't we supposed to turn back there? Arn't you going a little too fast? Shouldn't we ....."

That reminds me of a story about my daughter. She got so used to the Nav system that when she groggily woke up from a nap in the car, instead of saying "Are we there yet?" she mumbled "Have we 'reached our destination?'".

I'm thinking about the Garmin Quest. Yesterday, my wife came home after spending nearly an hour looking for a house (she's a realtor). The map did not have the address correct. I'm going to convince her that she needs the GPS, and I can use it when we take trips. Best of both worlds... her money and my needs.

What are other's feeling on the Quest?

Kinda the opposite of the TomTom comercials Where the driver asks passenger for directions.

Love the NAG features of your navigation device!

We went with the Garmin C320. Bought it about 6 months ago for $540 it's now down to $439 at GPSNow http://gpsnow.com/ at the time BB was selling the C330 for $900. We picked up a 1 GB SD card and have the entire east coast loaded.

Touch screen is very nice and it works fantastic.

BUT ... can you get YOUR sextant painted in the color to match your MINI? Can you put yours back in its little box and place it in the glove box?
