iPod 3rd gen. and the MINI's adaptor
 

Hey all,
My first post! I just got a 2005 blue MINI! I love it.

So, my question is has anybody had problems with the Ipod adaptor and the 3rd Gen Ipods? The manual says for best audio performance, use click wheel, 4th Gen, or Ipod minis. The problem with my 3rd Gen is that I can't skip through songs on the playlist. Whenever I try to skip to another song, it returns to track 1 of that playlist. I can play the different playlists, but they always play the same songs.

Any ideas? I am somewhat planning to get a new ipod (for the MINI of course). Will it work any better with a newer Ipod?

I have a 3rd Gen iPod and the MINI iPod adapter and I have had no problems, other than a few lockups that required unplugging the iPod and re-connecting.

Same here. 3rd Gen 15GB iPod works fine thru MINI iPod adapter. Maybe you need to update your iPod firmware.

I think that is good advice. I have a 3rd Gen as well and have no trouble skipping thru playlists with the MINI IPod adapter.

one qusetion for all of you guys with mini ipod adapter. When you turn the car off, do you need to manually shut the ipod or the mini ipod adapter shuts it off for you?

I am looking to buying either an icelink or mini ipod adapter. I am currently using the aux in solutions with the ipod remote placing next to the headunit. I just recently got a Cooper S Convertible and want to make good use of the MFSW buttons. :lol:

The iPod shuts itself down after a short time. I do believe there is still a trickle charge to the iPod though, so I think the concensus has been that if you aren't driving the car for a few days it would be best to unplug it.

How recent firmware are you running on your 3rd Gen iPod? I have the Alpine iPod adapter and my 3rd Gen iPod functioned very oddly until I upgraded the firmward on the Pod to the latest revision available for the 3rd Gen.

You may already have the latest but it might be worth verifying.

So, when you turn you car off, the ipod would pause and shut itself off after 1-2 minutes?

Annoying clicks and pops
 

I'm using a 3G iPod and iPod adaptor. I get very annoying clicks and pops between songs and for about 10 seconds into each song. These sounds are audible with the volume at more than about 1/3 of the way up. They're really apparent when the volume is at 100%. The only time I don't hear these noises is when the iPod is playing music from it's "buffer" and it's not having to access the HD. I'm wondering if this problem is only found when using the 3G iPod???? Anyone have this problem with using a 4G or 5G iPod?? :confused:

You know...I actually had this happen for the first time yesterday morning. In the afternoon it was fine when I plugged it back in. I have had the adapter in my car for almost a year now with my 3G iPod. It was weird because it almost sounded like radio interference...

I'd be curious on the answer you get about the 4G & 5G iPod.
