Do you want to see the title/artist info while driving?
If so, do you want to see it on the head unit display?
Do you want to control next/previous track from the steering wheel (assuming you have steering wheel controls)?

Track / Artist display on head unit severely limits your choice (or maybe eliminates all choices)!

The AUX input is the least expensive. But no steering wheel control.
The official MINI iPod adaptor gives you steering wheel control but no display, and requires you to organize your music in a specific way.

The Dension ICElink plus *might* be able to display info on the head unit, if you own a newish '05 MINI. It has had some glitches in the past but most seem to be resolved now.

Search & Review, both NAM and elsewhere - for example:

I'm willing to spend about $400 or so on it, but I have the stock cd player which doesn't have the disc changer option so is that bad? Where can I get the icelink done? bestbuy? I want good audio quality and if I can control songs and playlist awesome!!!

Audio quality will be about the same with any solution.

I don't know about installers for the ICElink - most MINI owners do their own install. You could check out the Dension web site: http://www.densionusa.com/dealers.htm

IceLink Plus, dock connector cable, mounted in the glove box. Nice stealth install, great quality.

I used to see these at Best Buy but haven't recently. Perhaps they moved them to the car stereo section (I used to see them with the iPod accessories)...

Not sure if you're still interested, but we sell a popular interface that allows you to control, charge, and play an iPod from the Mini Cooper audio head unit with CD quality sound. Works wonderfully. Once it's attached, you can put the ipod away and just use the buttons on the head unit. You can see it here.

As for the Icelink. Our cable is about 130 dollars (that includes shipping). I see Icelink retails between 200 at Best Buy and 220 at other places. Not too sure why when it does the same thing?? Our cable works perfectly and we guarantee you'll love it.
Hope this helps.

Brad - Does your cable allow ID3 tags to be shown on the head unit?

I-wonder cable

no ID3 tags, but you can contol from your steering wheel controls or head unit and at $130, the bargin may be a consideration.
