Which aftermarket underseat subwoofer? Match Audison Focal Bavsound
Hello All,
I am going on upgrading my whole audio system
I will go on 4-way active system with Focal KX3 speakers run by Audison APF 8.9 bit
I can't decide on subwoofer selection ;
1. a pair of under-seat plug&play subwoofers? (Match MW 8BMW-D or Audison APBMW S8-4)
2. normal subwoofer in truck (Focal E 25KX or JL Audio 8W7)
I really love bass in my car but really need the trunk space, so probably will go on with the under-seat subwoofers
Below are the ones available in market
1. Match MW 8BMW-D (by Auditec Fischer / Helix) - 200W RMS
2. Audison APBMW S8-4 - 150W RMS
3. Focal IFBMW-SUB - 90W RMS
4. Rockford Fosgate T3-BMW-SUB - 150W RMS
5. Bavsound Ghost - 160W RMS
6. Vibe OptiSoundBMW-8 115W RMS
... There are many more brands
I am more close to Match as it seems the powerful one, but what is written by the manufacturer is not always reliable.
Plug & Play aftermarket subwoofers have very little space to provide max output, while the others average is 150W RMS, it does not sound reliable 200W RMS
Speaking of the power, how come Focal is the lowest one?
On the other hand Match MW 8BMW-D subwoofer reads 25-140HZ, which is very ideal for my 4-way active system
But should we believe this? Auditec-Fischer already recommends highpass over 40HZ
Appreciate your opinions, does anyone used any of these aftermarket underseat subwoofers?

Hi, Just came across your post! I have Eton under seat Mid-Bass drivers and I find them really good. Great build quality and integrate well with the rest of the system.
I too have the Forza 8.9 and i was just wondering where you have installed yours. The option i am looking into is under the false floor partition in the boot as i am using the Audison ReAmp Cable and the amp wont fit where the old H/K was located!
If you have any photo's too that would be a great help?
Went with the Match MW 8BMW-D on my 19 JCW and they sound pretty good, definitely handle the bass better than the stock speakers. You might need to mod the wiring harness a little by notching it. I left a review for them on Crutchfield. After I installed the new speaker setup I have an annoying vibration on the drivers side somewhere near the headliner area and can't pinpoint it. It's only at certain frequencies. Here are the pics for you...

First, they are NOT SUB woofers, they are woofers..
They don't reveal the +- tolerance at 25hZ, could be as low as -30 or more
Every -6 dB is Half the volume.
As if an 8" speaker will ever reach down to 25hZ.
The 40Hz high=pass is recommended as anything below will be mud.
The wavelength of a 20hZ sine wave is 56ft, you would need to be 28 ft or more away from that speaker to hear that.
All said and done 40hZ is fine for being in a car.
Bavsound reveals their spec frequency range from 40Hz to 200Hz (+ or - 3 dB). Which means "clean" and balanced bass.
Right now, Im sitting in front of a 12" JBL 260 W powered Subwoofer, mixing a surround TV show, the specs on that sub reveals a 20dB drop-off from 40hZ to 28hZ
In a 1.8 cuft ported enclosure. It will never reach and audible 20hZ, for that you would need at least an 18" driver. (as in movie theater speakers)
