Hello all I am in the process of building out the stereo in my mini (new to me) it's a 2012 with the HK

Step 1 change the amp

I know i want a different amp. I just purchased a JL 300/4 perfect for 4 ohm OR 2 ohm speakers 75x4 into 4 or 2 ohms .(good for now and good for later)
use a x9331 and get the "front" signal to the amp. (do i really need this? I could pick it up at the amp the JL will take a high level input I might only need the + part of the input. Seems like a waste of 100 bucks just to pick up the signal

use the amp in 4 channel mode with the stock speakers. cross the 5.25 over LP at about 300 - 500,

is there any type of passive crossover on the mid / tweet
question does anyone know which wires to pick up at the amp.
I did this in my 1994 bmw 325is. it also had 3 way up front. 4/1 in the door and a 6 in the kick. its only 12 wires


Step 2 replace the speakers with some better speakers that I have in my garage (focal 2 way or 3 way or something similar to be acquired)
Step 3 head unit (this looks like a pain in the neck but it's the only way to get android auto)
Step 4 add a sub if needed

5 - Red/Gray (This is a 20A circuit that should provide power to a modest aftermarket amp without needing to run a seperate lead)

10 - Power Antenna lead (to turn on your aftermarket amp. I'll check the voltage/operation when I can).

18 - Orange/Green (No idea, but it causes me concern as it's labeled "K_CAN_L")

19 - Green (No idea, but also causes me concern as it's labeled "K_CAN_H")

For wiring help look at newtis.info . Apparently MINI/BMW often changes up the color combos so really the best way is testing the wires. I've only upgraded a third gen MINI so not much help on second gen.

the colors i posted above seem to match the colors and labels (ish) in the diagram https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r...ier/1VncKukH8c. at least enough to isolate and do a decent test.
