Have steering wheel control with aftermarket radio?
 
Anyone has an aftermarket stereo/radio and havent lose steering wheel control/buttons? I want to install a kenwood/alpine stereo and dont lose steering wheel control, please help!!

Try shopping at crutchfield.com, most of the single-DIN units there have an optional adapter that enables the steering wheel controls with the head unit.

I just installed an Alpine with the steering wheel control adapter from Crutchfield. The controls work 90% of the time. Not sure why it stops sometimes? Still need to investigate

do u have HK system in your Mini?

I have the PAC SWI-RC installed in my '06 R53 and so far it has functioned as designed for the past 3 years. The only glitch I have noted is that when the car is shut off the voice-recognition function is activated pretty much 50% of the time. I've still not identified the cause of this but alas it isn't that big a deal for me so I don't worry about it too much. The headunit I am using is a Sony MEX-GS810 BH that has also worked flawlessly. I don't think Sony sells that unit anymore, FWIW.

I bought the kit from Crutchfield for my HK system that was for keeping the steering wheel function, but I could never get it to work. I don't mind it's not like its out of my way anyways since most of my driving is one hand on steering wheel, and the other on the shifter.
