Need new phone mount

For various reasons, I need a new mount for my phone. The one I had for my 2015 Cooper was already on its last legs before I got the 2018 S convertible. The one I had attached using a suction cup on the top left of the center ring . It worked perfectly for a couple of years and then started having issues. I want something sturdy but would prefer something that didn't require installation .I tried finding the post to see where I ordered this one from but couldn't find it. I'm open to suggestions .

And thanks to the suggested threads the forum popped up, it looks like I found an updated version of the one I have now.

I'm still looking for alternative suggestions .

Best mount so far for the fewest dollars! If you want to spend and go fancy you can buy the Cravenspeed version for $100.

I assume the vert has the same instrument cluster as the F56.

I don't use it for my phone, just my GPS. But I wanted a solid mount. I bought the CravenSpeed mount. And yes, you have to mount it. But it was fast and easy. It is solid and I will admit, I normally do not recommend any product, but I do this. I suggest you should look into this.

deivery was quick
install was fast and easy
it is solid and adjustable for best positioning

Interesting, although it looks like if you use the phone vertically the steering wheel would obstruct the view of phone.

It doesn't block my view no matter where I have placed it. Like said I use it for my GPS instead of the phone, (my phone is bluetooth to the radio) and they are the same size. I have it right in front of my steering wheel, and it's low enough to give me full view. If you want, swing it to the right some. But as mentioned it is $99. I took a chance and glad I did.

PS: my phone is the large iPhone and the GPS is the same size. If yours is the same, get the click and drive and not the one on the picture. It's $79 and is a good as the other. I called them and they set it up for one shipment. Putting in in the click and drive is like opening a large paperclip clamp. Easy.

Their Gemini mount is $75 and includes both a clip and magnetic mount. I may try that one .

I'm sorry, heavy rains here and we had a power failure. That's the one I have for the larger iPhone I own.

I have a Proclip in my R55. Best dash mount ever.

Here is their version for 2018 models:
https://www.proclipusa.com/vehicle/d...nvertible/2018

I then have a Scosche magnetic flat mount for holding my iPhone to it.

I simply made a little shelf to the left of the steering wheel by forcing a piece of black plastic ( from the cover of a cheap calculator) under the plastic decoration of the dash and made a retaining strap for it so it would not go flying if a quick acceleration ......holds my iPhone fine in an easy position for me to see or reach for .....works great for me ...i posted a picture of this here, my post is #43 ..... ( sorry about you needing to cut/paste)

+1 for the CravenSpeed. I have their mount with the ball and my Garmin snaps right on it. I have the Garmin on the right. I'm currently using a CS Scangauge mount on the left, but am replacing that with a longer "dog bone" and ball to use the magnetic mount. I'm going to mount an iPhone SE running OBD Fusion to use for analog gauge displays.

Please elaborate, or show a picture.

I also have their mount with a Garmin on the right.
I want to install my phone on the left.
How do you install a CS mount with a Scangauge mount together??

Never mind, I just got an email back from CS.

I just ordered the CravenSpeed Gemini Mount. I'm getting tired of having my phone on the seat next to me.

I did something stupid. I put the T15 bit at the end of my socket wrench and moved it towards the first screw I needed to remove. Just as I noticed the angle of the socket wrench would not allow me to remove that screw, the bit fell off of the tool and into the steering column. Crap.

I can help with that!

It probably just ended up behind the kick-panel. The section in front of your knees when you drive is on hinges like a cabinet. If you grab at the top of it and pop it out of the clips it will open up for you and the bit should be in there.

It seems very solid. My only complaint is that the magnet on the Gemini Mount isn't strong enough to hold my Pixel 2 XL with the fabric case.

Thanks for the quick reply! It's the actual magnet. I have a fabric case on my phone. When I tried to use the magnet on the Gemini mount the phone slid off. The clamp mount will work fine, I was just hoping for the one-hand convenience of the magnet.

I have not seen a fabric case, sounds cool. I have had the magnet work pretty well with some thick cases though. Did you put the one of the plates inside the case?

I did. It grabbed it, but it wasn't strong enough to hold it .

Here's the case:

That looks really nice! Too bad that magnet will not work through it.
