They sell thin pieces of metal to put behind the case or self stick on the outside. It's pretty thin so it doesn't get in the way of anything but the looks.

The CravenSpeed mount came with the piece of metal. It didn't work through the case. I doubt any kind of adhesive (short of Krazy Glue) would keep the metal plate stuck to the outside of this case.

Of course I could always look at alternative cases.

It probably just ended up behind the kick-panel. The section in front of your knees when you drive is on hinges like a cabinet. If you grab at the top of it and pop it out of the clips it will open up for you and the bit should be in there.

I pulled at the kick-panel and it felt like it was going to break. I'm askeered. 😁

I ordered a new case. We'll see if that helps. It will arrive tomorrow.

Installation of the CravenSpeed mount will need to wait. Someone damaged my bumper a week after I got my car. It's at the shop. The good news is we may have figured out who did it.

You need to pull the side panel first!
Left side, its against the door, when the door is closed

When I dropped my Mini off for repair I told them about the bit. If they get it out, great. If not, it will live inside the Mini for the rest of its existence.

I'm ordering a torx T15 screwdriver. One that doesn't have a removable tip.

The magnet holds the phone perfectly well with the new case. I may try to find a stronger magnet so I can keep the old case .The new one is a little basic.

I spoke too soon about the magnet holding with the new case. It slowly rotates around until the phone is upside down. Then it's steady. That's a workaround for now. The CravenSpeed clamp broke and they're sending me a new one. Their customer service is as good as everyone says.

Air vent cell phone mount

I’ve been struggling to find the perfect way to mount my iPhone in my 2013 Countryman. I’ve looked at all the suggestions here (craven, pro-clip etc.) I’ve been avoiding an air vent mount because I’m often in hot weather and need all the A/C I can get 😊. However, I just ordered and received this little thing, the OHLPRO magnetic air vent mount for $13.67! I am very pleasantly surprised. (I also ordered the Magic Mount air vent holder at the same time, which also works well.) But what I like about the OHLPRO is that it sits off-center on the vent, so it can be positioned so that it doesn’t block the whole vent. It also comes with a larger magnet that can hold my iPhone 8 Plus. (I just put the magnet inside my case.) I know everyone has different preferences on phone placement, but for the price, this really can’t be beat. (Side note: I ordered rose gold plates from Magic Mount to use inside my clear case so it looks much better than a black rectangle on the back of my ohine
😊.) Just thought I’d share since I’ve found helpful advice on this forum in the past!
