Mini Connected App and Android

Has anyone found a way to make the Mini Connected app work with Android? It does some minimal things, but the only app it seems to work with is the calendar. I would love to be able to use Spotify without involving my phone, and without picking up a used iPhone just to use with the car.

Perhaps the day will come when MINI updates the Android app to allow it to work with 3rd party apps, but it is not this day

Does anyone have screenshots of the MINI Connected app and what it will do for a pre-March 2018 Countryman PHEV? Mine was a November 2017 build, and I'm just getting around to trying to install the app, and I can't get it to recognize the car, either while connected via USB or just trying to input the PIN (it says "This vehicle cannot be registered to your account") . I'm wondering if it's even worth messing with, if it won't do anything useful.

I know that this posting is a bit old, but I thought this is still the best place to leave this breadcrumb.

I emailed MINI Assistance. If one has a pre-March 2018 build date, there isn't much you can do with the app. A pre-March 2018 MINI can't be registered with the App, and the error msg is indeed "This vehicle cannot be registered ...".

I found the app is not only worthless, but also kind of annoying. For example, if I have a meeting scheduled on my phone's calendar, the MINI app will always alert me (warn me) that its time to start driving to my meeting, even if its only down the hall (and most are).

yes I agree the android support is really a joke. Considering Android is everywhere in the world, Minis should be punched in junk for not supporting it.
