if anyone has any interest, PM me.
any idea if these would be the same parts for an f56? i have the 6.5" screen now and hate it.... lol. i want carplay.....

Pulled from a 2016 model, so no CarPlay, but it has the 8" screen and touchpad along with the head unit.

If one is happy to continue using the 6.5" display, do you think all that would be required to activate CarPlay is the Headunit and FSC Codes? Or is a touchscreen also required?

touch screen is a must as that's the purpose of carplay.
in addtion the upgraded system hardware is a requirement for the connection

Touchscreen isn't a must for CarPlay tbh

Like @6FT6 said the touchscreen isn’t necessary for CarPlay, as you can use the controller mostly just a preference. The important part is having the actual NBT EVO id5 head unit that allows for CarPlay to be used. I’ll leave here a link to the marketplace in which I’m selling my unit and non touch display so you can see CarPlay working.

The only change I can possibly think of is the ability to use a touch screen. Everything else seems the same.

It's a little hard for me to read, but for sure HW needs to be 3.1 and build date should be late 2017. Currently shipped out my unit to get coded but my part number is 65128792249 and that has touch. Of course also important to make sure its a Mini one and not a BMW just because BMW doesn't have the blue gps antenna connector and instead uses an ATM module for that.

I have swapped my 6.5” screen for an 8.8” screen and coded without any issues. The thing is the led central instrument is not illuminating. I am not sure if it needs coding; wiring reconfigured in the plug or it is faulty.

Put the old one back in and check, there is no coding for the led ring. Maybe a faulty cable or ring.

My old ring is definitely working, just wanted to rule out coding and possibly the wiring configuration different between the 6.5” ring and the 8.8” version.

Cool, they are both the same. I did the exact same swap.
