HK Sound System Question

I have an HK System in my 06-R52

The volume has never been very impressive (barely audible with the windows open) and I just thought the system was not very good and lived with it.

I recently bought an 06-R53 w/ HK and the volume is incredible and the base is deep.

I have always read about HK amp issues with "no sound" and never any issues with low max volume.

Can this be another symptom of a problem HK Amp? I am not to keen on the idea of taking the known working amp and moving it to the R52 in a trouble shooting effort. Just removing it seems like a risky venture and I do not want to end up with 2 bad Amps.

You can swap the amp that you think is bad into the system that is working properly, if it doesn't work, then you know it's the amp, if it does, you know that it's not the amp, rather a problem with wiring or the head unit.

Check the settings on the radio. The HK has several sound modes and some lose volume when activaed. I think the "spatial" setting is one of these. Try turning off all of the sound effects and other processing. There should be a reset function on the radio for this.

This is should be the radio manual for your car:

I could not figure out how to get the amp out from under the seat without taking the seat out. So I decided to wait until next weekend to do that. I had just finished replacing the fuel filter and was running out of time and did not want to leave the car torn apart overnight.

Stay tuned...

I will read through this manual and see if I have some how enabled the "sound like crap" setting! Thanks for sending along the link. I am printing it out now. I like to have paper in my hand when I am reading.
