How to get Mini Connected working in an Australian F56

Hello, I've been reading so much information about activating Mini Connected. The information is sparse and varied. I wanted to post this to summarise where I'm currently at and help anyone looking for the same information – even if I don't currently have an answer.

The only person I know to have it working is JimmyBlunt (most likely on an older Mini). Unfortunately, I have been unable to contact Jimmy.

F56 Minis will need a FSC code from a genuine BMW dealer obtained through BMW ASAP to activate Mini Connected. The only part I know is: 65-90-2-219-124. It could possibly be a different part/FSC code for current F56 models. This part for FSC code is restricted to vehicles not from Australia (L810A : 810 in FA/VO). The FSC code will need to be uploaded and approved in E-sys before you'll get anywhere on your F56 iDrive.

My F56 FA / VO: 1CA,230,249,255,2GZ,2PA,329,383,402,423,450,473,48 1,493,4EP,4F2,4V9,50,520,521,534,544,548,550,563,5 AA,609,674,6NE,700,785,7L5,7Y1,810,825,85,
853,880,8KA,8S3,8SM,8TF,8TG,8TN,925,962,9AA

I believe I should add 6NM (maybe replace 6NE) and possibly remove 810 (Australian region).

If anyone has anymore information, please let me know. Cheers.

MINI Australia has a lot to answer for on this. My belief is they simply drip feed functionality out on newer cars at the expense of existing Australian owners. Whereas UK, US and EU owners have had MINI Connected functionality since day 1.

I have an email from my dealer stating that my June 2017 build Clubman JCW doesn't support MINI Connected or Apple CarPlay due to a missing feature (despite being a top of the line car).

I ended up going to BMW Tech Services in the UK who did a remote SW update that unlocked MINI Connected and CarPlay. So now with simple Bluetooth I can push a destination from my iPhone to the car's NAV, or it can automatically pickup a destination automatically from my iPhone's calendar. I can also use CarPlay - but I prefer the MINI Connected interface (it is quite easy to switch from one to the other).

The latest MINIs in AU come with all of this as standard - they also have the built in SIM and concierge subscription services (making more money may be the key here). The earlier cars with MINI Connected dont have all the features (since earlier cars dont have SIMs and remote services) but the functionality of the MINI Connected smartphone app does work with a lot more cars than MINI Australia admits.
