ipod integration alternatives?

folks,

after much searching and finding few options, it's time to ask.

the stock ipod integration ('13 GP, so base with ipod (y cable), aux, sat + IA soundstage) is worthless to me....listening to the trainwreck of it electing to play the end of one song over the beginning of the other today was horrible.

My needs are few:

-manual- control on the ipod. I use ratings and skip counts heavily, and without manual control mode, I can't skip (with metadata counts increasing), nor adjust ratings. not to mention lack of control over things like crossfade and soundcheck (soundcheck is required for ivolume level adjustments..)

track forward/backward using radio/mfsw controls (when I get them retrofit)

pause/unpause when the stereo is turned on (or the input is selected, but I'd be OK if it's just on/off and fake it with the amp turn on circuit for the IA amp)

ideally, also get track data displayed on the radio interface (ala RDS and CD track info) - but I'd rather lose this and get manual control.

In my R50 and R53s, DICE did this job wonderfully, faking being a CD changer. a lockpick does it in my '11 Ram 2500.

So what options are out there? The MOST stuff from mObridge seems like the closest fit, but at over $500 and requiring finding someone to code it in, seems like a stretch. (that's the A2010-BMW-F, I think.)

thanks!

...david
