I just acquired a used 2002 Mini Cooper with Navigation, and am loving it, but in tweaking around with the controls to the stock Head Unit, I came across something I didn't understand how to use/change, so I opened the manual, and it says "see other manual" but I don't have a stereo manual with the car.

Plus, I can't download a PDF either, so....

On the stock non-HK head-Unit, when you hold down the "note" button for 2 seconds, instead of being able to change the fader, treble, bass, and balance, you get....
[code:1:1c92ff185e] TONE LIN OK EXIT[/code:1:1c92ff185e]
Nothing seems to change this, unless you press the "note" again
[code:1:1c92ff185e] SPEED VOL 4 EXIT[/code:1:1c92ff185e]
turning the volume knob changes the number from 0 to 6, when you press the "note" again
[code:1:1c92ff185e] NAVI MIN EXIT [/code:1:1c92ff185e]
turning the volume knob changes the number from -9 to+9, when you press the "note" again
[code:1:1c92ff185e] RESET OK EXIT [/code:1:1c92ff185e]
and there's no other settings that I can find.

So what does TONE LIN mean, and am I correct in thinking that SPEED VOL is the speed sensitive volume control , and NAVI MIN is (Really guessing now) The amount to turn the volume down when the Navigation wants to speak? Okay, I can figure out RESET on my own.

Furthermore, is there any other settings I should know about, and/or is there a "Loudness" (which is why I went looking)

If you press "OK" to "TONE LIN" it resets bass & treble to their "flat" (mid) setting.

"SPEED VOL" adjusts the amount of volume increase at speeds - try the min & max settings and see the effect as you increase speed.

"NAVI MIN" I belive sets the minimum volume of the navigation prompts - no effect if you don't have the nav (gps) computer. But I don't have nav so not sure about this one.

There is no loudness feature - or if there is one you cannot adjust it or turn it on/off. One of the major improvement when I put in my aftermarket HU was the better low volume sound due to a good loudness algorithm.

Thanks.
