placed an order today, which includes the following equipments.
Kenwood KVT-815DVD (in-dash monitor/DVD player/receiver) Kenwood KNA-DV3100 (DVD GPS navigation) Kenwood KDC-C667 (6 CD changer) PAC SWI-X (MFSW interface) The aforementioned equipments will be added to the existing 4 channel Alpine amp, MB Quart speakers, and Infinity Basslink sub. I'm also interested in building a custom enclosure to fit in the boot to replace the Basslink that's currently in there. _________________ https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t_L7.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rial.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...de_7.thumb.jpg |
I don't know much about sub woofers, but I used to sell hifi a long time ago. One thing I noticed then was that it takes a certain distance for a bass tone to develop and that bass is omni-directional. With that said I always preferred a little smaller bass speaker than some younger kids. this is so that the bass remains tight and not just a booming wallow sound. The best bass I ever heard was when you could hear the foot pedal on a bass drum. Omni directional means it doesn't really matter whrere you put it. Tweeters are much more sentsitive to position as they have an angle of dispertion. If you can tune in some white noise with and hold your a few feet out move back forth to find where the sound suddenly drops off. The wider the dispersion the less you will be able to tell where the speakers are.
I love the idea of dash board mounted DVD! |

Wow, I dont know if I would want a pic of a Mazda in my car. But everything else seems real cool.
My only upgrade for audio will be an IPOD 40gig, as soon as I can get over the price. (having a tough time paying $200 more for apple than Zen nomad) But I know, as everyone, everywhere says apple the best. Love to see and here this is person. Paul |

Chris, I like the setup you have so far. Nice! I've been using MB Quart ever since my first pair back in the mid-80's.. Speaker select is rather personal, which can vary depending on the music preference and other factors. I'm running 6.5"/tweet component in the front and coax in the rear. MB Quart Premium Series sound great with reasonable prices. |
>>How much will it set you back?
A few G's and hopefully in return, I'll have some Wow's!! _________________ https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t_L7.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rial.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...de_7.thumb.jpg |
Hi,
does that unit not have a remote input? The Uk version does & allows a plug & play mfsw adaptor to be connected without chopping wires or mounting an LED |
mmmmmmm... touchscreen...
|
>>does that unit not have a remote input?
Remote, touch screen, and voice control! |
So SOOO jealous
|
Take a look at the  915  . I know its alot more money but it has everything included and it also has the newest software...thus a better menu system. Not to mention DAD-A and a host of other things.
 JL makes a stealth box for the Cooper. A box by JL will always be better than a custom one unless you spend alot for fiberglass. http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/minicooperD.html MB Quart  are always the way to go! |

The 915 is indeed an awsome unit, representing Kenwood's top-of-the-line model. But for $600 more than the 815, I'll settle for the 815. are always the way to go! Ditto! _________________ https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t_L7.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rial.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...de_7.thumb.jpg |
Does anyone know if the Kenwood 915 has any kind of OBDI input for things like car speed, G forces, etc like the Pioneer head unit?
All in all, I think the 915 is the way to go for me, but the OBDI input or a device that mutes radio when my cell phone rings would really seal the deal. Info anyone? |

>> >>Info anyone? More info on Kenwood KVT-915DVD. One of the features of 915 is Dolby 5.1 surround. Under the switch panel would be an ideal place to mount a center channel speaker. http://www.kenwoodusa.com/content/pr...-2004-kusa.jpg _________________ https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t_L7.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rial.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...de_7.thumb.jpg |

That's probably part of the GPS features. Check out Kenwood KNA-DV3100 for more info! _________________ https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t_L7.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rial.thumb.jpghttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...de_7.thumb.jpg |

It's not too late! |
Let me change that...Forget the cd changer and get the music keg. MP3 player harddrive. Now thats cool.
|
I spoke to Ben at Car Toys today in Denver. He thinks one of the new Kenwood Music Kegs has a built-in wireless network link that can hook up through your home's wireless network link to transfer the music back and forth.
If it's true, that's very, very cool! Mmmm, must have wireless keg. |
That will not be out till later this year. It competes with the omnifi which is selling pretty well. The Keg will also do video then, as in movies on hard drive.
|
Keg with video and wireless capabilities is definitly something to consider as an add-on later, along with HD radio tuner.

> Under the switch panel would be an ideal place to > mount a center channel speaker. Excellent idea! I've got room there too, since my parcel shelf holds my wallet, cell phone, and other junk. I love gadgets. More so than the sound of the audio. I wonder what other toys I could put in there. I already ordered a Valentine 1, but I don't know how to further gadgetize it. Besides, their website says I should stick it as high as possible on the car for maximum protection, so doing funky stuff like hiding it and putting the sensors in the license plate frames doesn't seem to make sense. |
