All 2013 Mini Bluetooth Downgraded (exce

Purchased my 2013 Clubman S (no navigation) on Friday. Paired my phone to the Bluetooth ; however could not get the voice commands to work. No response of any kind from voice command button on steering wheel. Asked for help on forum under Newby needs help with bluetooth. Followed manual to the letter as well as the Mini online help site. Still could not get it to work. Called local mini service department to set up appointment. Service advisor stated that all minis except those with navigation have no capabilities for voice command. He stated because of poor quality of system Mini Removed voice command capabilities and I was told to use my phone to dial or call out. There is no mention of this in Owners Manual and the online help still gives directions for voice command. I find it hard to believe that Mini would remove this feature (I consider this to be a safety issue) without mentioning it on the new car sticker, the owners manual, online help site or via the sales staff. Anyone with more information regarding this issue would be appreciated.

Drat.

I just asked my MA about this issue today. I noticed the test drive car had nav with a "voice" option. He thought it was talking about the audible turn-by-turn navigation. I guess he was wrong.

Sad.

On a side note, I don't suppose the Bluetooth system on the 2013's can stream music from a cell phone (a2dp)?

I was under the impression the former voice commands for MINI BT wasn't all that great anyways....lots of mis-dials ?

Playing around today with an iPod Touch 4 (running iOS 6.01) and Bluetooth on our 2013 MINI with Nav, the streaming audio works fantastic. No wires, and great sound. On the other hand, with the iPod connecting cable the dealer gave me, the USB output is WAAAAY too low and can't be adjusted, and the AUX simply doesn't make any sound at all. So Bluetooth to the rescue for now, until I can figure out why the USB/Aux hookup doesn't work.

Read/heard/was told the same, poor review scores caused the elimination of the feature.

Streaming audio with bluetooth might work with Nav, but as far as I know it does not work without. If it does, someone please explain.

My r53 had a setting that adjusted the volume of the aux-input. It should be in the manual somewhere I presume.

FYI, this is the 1st-gen forum (unless the app sent me to the wrong forum ;) ), so you might have more luck in the the 2nd gen forum section ;).

My 2013 has NAV and the voice commands work just fine. There is another thread that has more detail on why the non-Nav systems don't work. I even thought I read that there will be a fix for it.

Interesting. My 2013 Cooper S Roadster has a package called "MINI Wired" and includes "voice command" on the list. I did not purchase nav.

We'll know when it arrives~!

Did some digging and it seems that you only get Voice Command if you ordered Mini Connected (with or without NAV) - phew! I was going to flip my lid if I wasn't getting voice commands in that expensive tech package.

I found a thread with a post from some one who seemed to be from a dealership in Seattle:

He claims that Mini is working on a retrofit that will be out in 2013 because too many people were upset. Hope this works out for you guys.

Is anybody having trouble as far as missing calls because the incoming call does not display in the dash, no ringing through speakers and blocking phone ringer. This is my third I-phone (one 4 and two 4S's). Mini Copper S, 2011.
