What's the latest and greatest for adding a sub?

We have a 2011 R56 Hardtop with the HK system (no Nav). I'm pretty happy with the system so far, except for the lack of true deep bass. Wanted to see what the latest rage is as far as people adding subwoofer(s) in their Minis?! I went back far enough to see a couple threads, but looking for more current info. If funds weren't an issue, I'd probably throw a single 12" or 13" JL W7 and nicely sized amp. Or possibly the Stealthbox JL has now with two W7 8", even though it's a tad pricey retail-wise.

Anyway, let's see what everybody else is doing nowadays!

Integral Audio is supposedly pretty impressive, they have a sub designed specifically for the MINI.

I have a decent 10" sub in the boot, it bangs pretty good

Ah yes, MTX is still good stuff, and solid. That's a company that's been around for a long time! I had MTX subs in my very first system back in the early 90s.

I'll check into the Integral stuff. Thanks

My buddy had these classic solo baric 10s in his garage 350w rms each and made for small spaces. He gave them to me  I found an amp at the pawn shop $69 kicker 750.1:nod: mounted to the back seat. I bought a box $89 that would fit in my R57 boot (more practical to run one in a smaller box to keep some storage space... but who's practical ) and a 8 guage wiring kit a line converter and 14 gauge speaker wire from walmart $40 (had smaller amp initially probably need 4 guage).

Booming like the old days... priceless:lol:

I haven't put a system in a car in 10 years... this was fun! I downloaded Majic Mike and BassPatrol albums couple days ago... true nastalgia:roll:

Hi, I just had my 2011 R56 fitted out with full new system as was not impressed with the standard boost system. I had custom sub box as I did not want anything on show. The height of the sub is a determining factor in box height but by removing the flat tire kit my audio guys were able to use a Hertz 12" and still finish the covering panel below the boot line. The systems Amp is hidden in the compartment to the right.

What did you use for mids/highs though out the rest of the car?

Hi Texas, I have attached photos of the speaker boxes which I hope you can see clearly. Thought this was better than me trying to explain the different components.

I bought the new A-pillars with tweeter holes also and had the hertz tweeters installed where the HK would have gone.

In the front door there was standard 4" and 6" MINI speakers but some how the audio guys managed to replace the 6" with 6 1/2" while still keeping the OEM look.

I had the car sound dampened also and this give me no rattles or vibrations and also blocks out a huge amount of road noise which is great as I have the run flats. would recommend the sound deadening to anyone looking to upgrade their sound system. its worth the extra cash.

The full cost of the entire system is what I would consider to be quite expensive but I am more than happy with the results and this is not something I could have done myself.

Cool, thanks for posting that. Was more or less curious what you put in, as in brand of speakers. You answered that for me, thanks.
