Cool I'm gonna try ..

To install the update? No, it's done with a file on a USB memory stick. Open the link in the first post and look at the information document PDF.

NavyNUKE 03-29-2012 10:45 PM

Oop thanks, that's what I get for just skimming through.

DARK CHILI 03-30-2012 06:12 AM

Done. but I don't see a difference in office. I was hoping for e-mail.

no sir. just a usb stick. just updated both mine and my wifes car. I just picked mine up yesterday and it needed updating. So if you have not done it yourself you will need to do it. This update makes the connection and the phonebook from ALL supported phones better. (at least its supposed to )

Worrynot- thank you for posting this

I noticed the first install screen says "Start Ignition." Does one actually need to have the engine running to install the update? I'm wondering why...

i wondered that as well. The only reason i could think of was with the engine running the alternator was supplying voltage and not the battery? Possibly to keep voltage regulated while the update is being installed.

Trouble in updateville

2 Attachment(s)
Hmmm, I just tried to perform this update and I'm getting an error message that reads: "Software on this USB device is incompatible with this vehicle".

I've had this this Countryman about a year and have never updated the software on it. It's currently running:

Multimedia: MX-002.007.003
Telephone: TX-002.007.003

Is it possible I need some intermediary update before I can get the latest? I posted pics below in case others are having this trouble as well.

I'm glad to see MINI finally suppling a Bluetooth update, but I wonder why in the world it took them almost three months to update the MINI Connectivity site with the exact same version info that was available in ealy January from BMW's Update site: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...update_vin.jsp

My post from January:

Same thing for me. Your numbers match mine (MX-002.007.003/TX-002.007.003) and my vehicle is also a little over a year old.

Same here.... If someone figures this out, please post the reason it's not working....

agent328 04-12-2012 01:44 PM

Tried doing several things but couldn't get mines to update either and also had MX-002.007.003/TX-002.007.003 software.

For those of you who have updated, what version were you updating from?
For whoever is about to update, can you check to see which version you currently have before updating and let us know if you were successful or not?

I, too, would also like to know if there was another software release sometime between this one and the MX-002.007.003/TX-002.007.003 software and if that is a requirement to update to the current version.

Thanks!

Software Rev #

I noticed that the file for my 550 (downloaded from bmw.com) was the same name and size, for grins I tried the Mini file in the 550, it worked like a charm... the rev level on it is 002.006.004 (same as BMW), which is less than what is already in the Mini (002.007.003) which might explain why it's not working...

Can anyone that had a succesful update post what the before and after revision levels were....

mjgood 04-12-2012 02:33 PM

Just looked at pics in earlier post at the revision levels, I'm wondering if the file on the Mini web site is the wrong file for our cars...

file I got from the Mini site is UPD01004.bin, is that what the name of the successful update file is named? if for some reason Mini did put the wrong file out there, is it legal for someone to post the correct file on this site?

I'm in the same boat as the others with the MX-002.007.003/TX-002.007.003 versions, no luck on the upgrade. Anyone found a way around yet?

Kryptonlogic 04-22-2012 04:51 PM

Did anyone find a fix for this? I'm on the same boat with MX-2.7.3 and TX-2.7.3

I think the dealer will need to update the car software for the connected update to work... I had an appointment scheduled this morning with Momentum Mini of Houston to have the update done along with some other issues, only to find out that they didn't have a loaner car for me and now I have to wait a month before they can accommodate me... It takes me over an hour to get there.... Anyhow, I'm not sure if writing a letter to Mini USA will accomplish anything, but I'll give it a try....

Why do you have to wait a month they should rent you a car, then take care of you immediately!
I was at the dealer today same issue software with the media adapter
They run all new upgrades next week and give me a loaner.
Sorry to hear your issue is not treated with more care.
I just got the CM all 4
It's a rocket ship with the sport button
Too much fun

The upgrade went smoothly for me. Have any of you who succeeded noticed any differences/improvements?

Mechanic1 04-26-2012 09:25 PM

Upgrade

Thats great, what phone did you have that needed the software?
And did you do the upgrade yourself, if so I'm jealous ,wish I can do that
Lol:eek2:

Successfully updated my 2012 Countryman, but I'm getting the "incompatible" error when I try to update my 2011 S Convertible from 002.007.003.

I'm subscribing to this thread in hope of someone finding a solution.

Right Hand / Left Hand

Car is at the Dealer having some warranty work done...

I told them that I couldn't perform an update, I even made a copy of the instructions for the update to give my Service Advisor as well as the file on a USB stick.

Got a call saying they are waiting approval from Mini to perform an update to the car, they also told me that the usb port is only for music players, not to do a software update... I let them know that they might want to read the owners manual and re-read the update instructions I gave them..

Gives me the impression that folks at Mini are un-aware what the other departments are doing... as a consumer I really shouldn't be more educated on the car than they are
