Navigation & Audio Mini Connected update released today

Another +1! No noticeable difference though, in the 5 minutes I played w/ it.
One thing that kind of irks me though... In the Manual it says that the USB port inside the glovebox is only to be used for software updates. When I plug any other USB device in it (*cough*ipod*cough), it doesn't recognize it. When I plug in the USB with the software upgrade on it? It doesn't recognize that either. Might I have a dead glovebox USB port?

I have posted a question to Mini as well... Will update if I get an answer.

So, has anyone found a fix for this? I tried unsuccessfully with my 2011 Mini Countryman S running .002.007.003 software. Tried both USB PORTS, even tried formatting the USB drive to make sure no other files were tripping it up.

To perform such a software update, you require the following options:
‘Bluetooth mobile preparation with USB Audio Interface’ (option code 6NE) as well as the ‘Radio MINI Visual Boost’ (option code 6FP) or the ‘Navigation System Business’ (option code 606).
Your vehicle can be updated provided that you have the 'Software update' option on your 'Settings' menu.

Also of note is that most likely (even though not stated) the USB stick will need to be formatted for FAT32. Not FAT or NTFS those probably will not work. I know that FAT and NTFS do not work for playing music properly off of a USB stick.
Edit: and to properly format it to FAT32 you may need a program to do that as windows 7 and windows XP do a very poor job of formatting to FAT32.

I've got the same problem (CooperS from 03/2011).
Has anybody found a solution in the meantime?
Or do we all have to visit our dealer?
Thanks,
Jake

Got the update to work on my 2013 but a few things to note. I could not get the USB update to be recognized on a newer jumpdrive that was 16gb in size. Could have been a weird issue, but I did get it to work with an older 4gb stick formatted in Windows 7 to FAT.
Also, when the USB thumb drive is plugged in(below center console), you may need to wait a second or 2 before the software update screen recognizes that it is indeed a compatible USB update. It told me it was incompatible then 10 seconds later it said (Ready to Update).
Also you do NOT need your car to be running to perform this update. It simply means, you cannot be in "accessory" mode to perform the update. The car needs to have its ignition on but does not need a running engine.

Also, I'm surprised noone has mentioned this, but it appears to have added "Time Shift" to Sirius satellite radio. You can go back in time up to 60 minutes of your satellite radio station like a DVR.
Another notable feature is when in a call:
Annoyingly the (End Call) tooltip would stay visible so you couldnt see the caller's name on the screen. This now hides after a few seconds and the callers name is visible.
Also if you have iOS6, certain features that worked before have been fixed (Messages seem to be coming through again). It looks like there was an update released as recently as November 2012 (UPD01005) Versions MX 3.5.4, TX 3.5.5

I tried both USB Ports. Audio USB and Glovebox USB. Same Message no update.
It was hard to find UPD01008.bin Because it is not available for my retrofitted car over regular download website.
It should be suitable for my Combox. I was hoping the is a solution to start the installation in my car.
Allready using FAT 32 USB Stick with 2 GB capacity. Ignition on.

Latest Binary is Version 1008. I was able to update with USB but only after updating the Combox to version 1005 before. because mine was 1004 at start and there was no abilytiy to do the update with usb from that version.
it took me long to find that latest 1008. I uploaded it here to share it with you: Update 1008 Bin

Yes there is a newer version, and you can get it for free from the BMW website, there’s another thread that has a link to it. There are ways to get lifetime updates for around $20 for your maps from eBay, and once again there are other threads that have more information on that. And finally, yes you can get apple CarPlay, but you have to buy and install another plug and play piece of hardware...there are other threads that have links and more information on that too.
