Satellite Radio, Dealer or Audio Store

I want to add satellite to my 2010 clubman s,

I like the thought of a clean look of having the dealer install and running it through the radio. The price is the issue.

What have others done ?

Does anyone know if the current antenna that is currently on there is a satellite antenna ?

If, and I think so, the antenna is the same as 2009 it includes Satellite radio.
There is a least 1 thread on this including how to find the antenna and several tips on power etc. Built in antenna works great for me.

Search and you should find in in this section.

Search is your friend here There are at least 20 threads on this subject here. As for the OEM antenna in the roof mounting the only way to know if it is truly there is to look under the passenger seat for it some cars came thru without it.

Two things to remember disconnect the battery before taking the seat out or you WILL get an air bag light that has to be shut off by the dealer. And parts are less expensive if you purchase them thru a parts palace on online (there are many references to those places on the forums here)

Now the OEM unit can be purchased and installed by you and then programed by the dealer saving you hundreds of dollars.

There's a really good chance that you have the antenna connector under the passenger seat....thern you need a cable from that to you satellite equiped radi...I could not justify the cost of added it to my radio so I went XM Onyk aftermarket. It's set up in a cupholder and looks good. all the wires are out of the way....I run a power cable to the outlet in the trunk so it doesn't look cluttered up front....there is absolutely NO NEED to remove the seat to plug into the cable under the passenger seat....it's a fiddle but you can fish the lead out through the carpet vent opening.... as has been previously mentioned there are plenty of threads about connecting to the lead and what type of lead you need to continue wiring to the satellite radio....I think I bought mine on ebay for about $20...well worth it...

Minilla, do you have a photo of your installation? I have an older XM receiver and I have been trying to figure on where I want to put it.

It comes down to a choice. You can install an aftermarket Sirius and use the AUX jack, (thereby losing the ability to use my IPhone in the armrest as an Ipod, SmartPhone prep package), or get the factory Sirius and have it all controlled by the steering wheel buttons and radio, and keep the IPhone/Ipod useful.

How much do you value that convienance?
