Hello everyone! I am a relatively new proud owner of a R53 06 S. The car had the upgraded HK system. Driving my new mini home from the dealership 100+ miles away I thought a speaker wasn't working then it came on out of nowhere and sounded blown.

It comes in and out and I decided to upgraded the speakers. (Bad speaker in the passenger door) After purchasing 6 1/2 speakers I learned that I can only replace that speaker with another 2 ohm. The tech explained that it could be either a). bad speaker or b). the amp is going out. All the other speakers are working great.

Has anyone else had this issue or have advice? I am considering just having that speaker disconnected next time it comes back online.

If anyone has an extra speaker sitting around I would consider purchasing it

Thanks

To diagnose it, I would swap the left and right speakers. If the problem moves to the other side, it's a blown speaker. If the problem remains on the same side, it could very well be the HK amp (failures are common).

It's probably your speaker the passenger speaker always blows out. I don't know why but it's always the passenger side.
