What's the "RIGHT" way to mount aftermarket speaker grills to doors?
Seems like a simple question, but I can't figure out how to put these grills on my door panels.
Thanks for pointing the idiot in the right direction! So you're trying to figure out how to attach the new grill to the door panel and the speaker or just the door panel? I'll be in a similar situation soon with my aftermarket speakers.
I wanted to ask what did it take to take off the OEM grill? Does it just pop out or did you have to do some grinding? Thanks. |
I would like to just attach the new speaker grill to the door card so that when I need to take the door panel off, I don't have to mess with the speaker.
The OEM grill comes off very easily. I just used a small forstner bit to remove it. Now, I am considering putting the stock grill back on, and I am not sure how I would do that either LOL :) |
So I wound up shaving the speaker rings down about 3/8", placed a 3/8" round ring of modeling clay on the door and bolted them down, then added clay around the speaker ring. I cut the tabs for the original speaker grills off, and then siliconed the original grill to the door card (there is a nice round indent to glue it in place). All said, I think it looks pretty good, and I am hoping that the added weight of the clay does some good...
