Noise through speakers with car off
So is this a normal thing; with the car off if I open the door or when I shut the car off the speakers will emit a sort of white noise for about 10-15 seconds then it stops. Radio is off as is everything else I'm aware of, it's not a problem just wondering if that's normal or what. Definitely coming out of the speakers, not engine noise...I did put my ear right to each speaker and can hear it out of them all. Only the 2nd day with the car so I could be missing something, would not be surprised.

Not normal! Take it back to the dealer, there is something wrong.
Noticed the same thing, Rubicon. Picked up my car on Wednesday.
Very odd, I contacted the dealer and they aren't sure either so I'm going to try and stop by their service department and see what they say.
Keep us posted, please. My dealer is 3 hours away, so can't do a "stop-by."
Mine does the same thing...
Hmmm wonder if it's something with the 2011's then. My dealer is an hour away so it's not a quick drive, questioning if I should even bother now
I have a 2011 and it doesn't do that. I have the base stereo, in case that matters.
Mine does this as well. Had the car about a month.
So I did a little more testing and what seems to be happening is that anytime power is triggered for things like the overhead lights or dash lights while the car is off triggers the 'R1' relay in the fuse box under the bonnet. Almost seems like maybe a bad ground for the speaker system, or something like that, which would cause the noise of the passing electrical to pass to the speakers:confused:
Going to try and make it to the dealer tomorrow so I'll post their findings. I haven't been able to confirm the speakers make any added noise with the car on and the radio off but I'll check that too. |
Just to update this a bit more, it doesn't seem to happen with the car running, tried it today and couldn't hear it at all but turn it off and right away it starts.
Very odd and I can't make it to the dealer until NEXT weekend so ya'll have to stay tuned  |
Let us know. For the record, I have Connected w/HK.
Adding to the dog pile... Mine does it too, since I first picked it up months ago. I also have an H/K system, but no connected - 2011 MCS.
 |
Well the verdict is in...."normal" behavior is what the dealership said. Even after hearing it they weren't sure so we checked out some other new ones and they all do it, apparently the countryman is much more noticable for whatever reason. The tech believes that it's just interference being picked up by the speakers as they are powered with the car off to provide sounds for things like the key being left in etc.
So, it's either really normal or they are all broken  |

Glad to know I'm not the only one...
I have a 2011 Countryman w/ Connected and the HK system and I get the same thing every time. |
correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that's not thru the speakers. I feel as if i heard that's a fan or something (present on both mini's i've owned)
It's through the speakers. The fan is a separate item you can hear from outside the car. There would be no reason for a fan to be running in my car after it has been sitting in my garage all night.
I hear a noise from my cd player everytime I open the door.
Then it stopped. Completely. Like no sound from the speakers at all, no matter how high I cranked the volume. |
