IPOD icon won't show up when I plug in my iPhone

Hi guys
I have an '11 ClubbyS, love the thing. I got the Y-splitter cable for my iPhone and it's worked pretty okay. However, every once in awhile, the iPod icon won't show up on my radio when I plug it in. The only way to play music then is via the Aux, which is crummy because a) I paid for this dang thing b) can't control it via the wheel/radio controls. Does anyone else have this issue and know a way of "resetting" everything? I had this problem at pick up and the dealer told me to restart my phone and the car and it'll work, which it did that day. However, now, I can't get it to work at all.

Any tips?

It's happening when you use the cable, the armrest dock, or both? What version of iPhone? What version of iOS?

Cable, no armrest dock in the 11's (unless you get Connected I think, I don't know). No Connected. iPhone 3GS (it's worked before). 4.1

It seems like I remember reading some threads recently with people having similar issues with the iPod/iPhone interfacing on non-Connect systems but I cant seem to find the thread. I can't remember if any solutions were found either.

Yeah I did some searching, no avail. Most people have problems with old iPods. It charges just fine, just no ability to see IPOD on the radio interface. *sigh*. The only solution I get from the dealer is to restart the phone and the car, but that isn't doing the trick this time. Soo annoying..

My 2011 did this same thing with my sisters iPod this weekend. Worked fine while driving downtown. Eat lunch and nothing after that. If pops up for a sec then disappears. That same day the BT stopped working also. The BT is back now though.

Going to have this looked at when it goes in for the St. Andrews flag install.

wahoo shoe, This is going to sound crazy but back on 08 and 09 cars when the GS came out people were having similar problems. One person figured out that if he plugged in the iPhone before shutting the drivers door it worked every time. It had something to do with the way the computers in the car react with each other. But I would way try it and wee what happens. It may not be the ideal thing to do but if it gets it working for you then at least you have a way to make it work.

But I agree this should not have to be done this way.

Funny you mentioned that solution, I actually used to notice that if I plugged it in before putting the key in/starting the car, it worked everytime, but if I plugged it in after starting the car, it'd get funky.

I'll try this in the morning

Well I dunno if MINI heard me whining or realized that this week I REALLY needed it to let me play my own tunes and really enjoy my ride, or what, but it seems to be out of stupid-mode. I'm guessing it just got confused at some point and it took some un-confusing-motions to get it back to working order.

*sigh* guess I'll never quite understand Clubby...always keepin me on my toes
