Lately, I've been listening to Avenged Sevenfold's "waken the fallen" album... good sound.

there's a whole bunch of other stuff, but it's nice to have something fast to listen to

>>Best driving album: anything by Jethro Tull, such as Aqualung or The Broadsword and the Beast.
>>Best song: Hot Rod Lincoln, and I'll be darned if I know who sings it.

Hot Rod Lincoln - sung by - Asleep at the wheel ?

How about On The Road Again or I've Been Everywhere?

The first purpose-chosen track for road play in Midnight was Kool Keith with Prodigy- Diesel Power! In laboratory testing, this track has been demonstrated to increase the mass of the driver's right foot by up to 50%.

I third the Spoon call.
EliteCooperS has got the best all around list in my opinion so far.

But the question is: Is this list for cruising, or cutting lines through back roads.

For the former it depends on the mood and the time of year (the season affect what type of music I listen to), but:

Led Zeppelin
Incubus
Tom Petty
Jack Johnson
Dave Matthews Band
Weezer
Jimmy Eat World
Rock Hall <-- Gotta plug my own band

However for the later, you can't beat Crystal Method and the Chemical Brothers... Or maybe Thrice and Metallica if your angry.

I say it depends on the type of driving you are doing.

If you just want to speed and drive with rage(who does that? ):
AFI - The Leaving Song Part II
Boy Sets Fire - Rookie

If you are just cruising:
Audioslave
Any acoustic wonders...
Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
The Eagles - Hotel California
Blind Melon - No Rain
Incubus
The Ataris
Tenacious D
Jack Johnson
Sublime
Clapton

Twisties:
Clapton - Cocaine
ZZ Top - La Grange
Switchfoot - Meant to Live
Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl
Prodigy - Smack My ***** Up(no Lyrics)

Thats just a taste of what I listen to...

This is a GREAT thread. Must buy more CD's now!

"The Distance" (Cake) and "Go!" (Tones on Tail) have already been mentioned, but I had to plug them again. More picks: "Ball and Biscuit" (White Stripes) - Jack White channels Hendrix, in his own special way. He wails. This song makes me want to pound the accelerator to the floor and fly. "Crystal" (New Order) - from their 2001 release "Get Ready". Also "True Faith" (original or 94 remix). Honorable mention: "Faint" by Linkin Park.

Of course, after I've posted this, I will remember one (or two..or ten) other drive-worthy tunes, but what can you do?

so many songs that i've called "my favorite" over the years but these days whenever i drive for more than an hour i enjoy:

anything from Dave Matthews Band (legendary driving music IMO
and any Outkast, Ludacris, or Biggie i find in my CD case first.
needles to say my taste in music is very eclectic.

How did I forget Tenacious D and STP, I'm slipping in my young age.

So much music, so little time...

Anything by Pat Metheny, but in particular for long winding back roads "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls".

Then for the Turnpike you got your choice of:
[*]Robert Plant's "Tall Cool One"[*]Billy Idol's version of "LA Woman"[*]Sammy Haggar's "I can't drive 55"[*]Meatloaf's "Paradise by the dashboard lights"

But that's just me

Cheers
