Thanks for letting us know about this.
BTW -- how important is the rear tweeter in this system? Would be nice to be able to get all of the speakers via one site.
Its the mid and low range where you hear the difference. I think the tweeters are fine on the hifi

I think these parts below would be for the tweeters that go in the pillars up-front. Can someone who knows this better than me confirm? I pulled this part numbers for an earlier post and these parts come up under BMW for $68.56 per side:
51437236259 - LH HK black a pillar inc tweeter
51437236260 - RH HK black a pillar inc tweeter
Thanks! They are coming up under BMW with price but when searching under MINI they come up with no price or don't come up at all.
We hardly ever use the back seats. In the scheme of things I wonder how important the rear woofers are as well. I am thinking about ordering all but the rear...
They give the power and the bass. They are worth the 3 hour install, don't be put off by it.
You didn't happen to have taken a picture of how the rear quarter looked behind the panel do you? Someone with a R56 told me that the rear is a sealed metal enclosure and perfect for bass reproduction (with better woofers), but I'm not sure if it's the same for the R57 because of the convertible mechanism.
I have a 2009 convertible and the rear speaker is not bad. IT IS NOT A 6" x 9". IT IS A 5 1/2" (inside cone dimension) ROUND SPEAKER. It is different the R56 which is a 6" x 9"
You have to pull the seat bottom out (no tools req'd), then remove the seat backs by removing the center bracket by unbolting the three torx 40 bolts (one in trunk, two in front), use screw driver to release the seat backs from the center bracket. As you pivot the seat back the end can be removed from the outer edge pivot points - only comes out in one seat back pivot position.
The side panels have three of the snap clips at the front edge ( see drawing below), a screw at the front edge in the door frame, a screw in the black recessed hole that is used for a mount for the wind deflector, and three funky expanding rivets at the back The top and bottom are the same. The middle one is fatter.
Remove the two screws and the plastic rivets at the back, pop the front clips (pop straight toward center of car - easy with plastic trim removal tools) then lift the panel straight up to release 3 hidden clips that hold the top of the cover down ( area near the top fabric).
Disconnect the tweeter connector and the LED colored ambient lighting assembly that clips to the bottom of the speaker grill. The woofer is removed with four Philips head screws. Pull the speaker out. The speaker electrical connection is on the back of the speaker.
I added a 1/8" foam gasket behind the speaker to force it to press on the speaker grill in the panel a little tighter. I did not replace the tweeters.
When you reassemble make sure to pull the door seal rubber away to keep it from preventing the three snap clips on the front edge from snapping properly. Also test fit to ensure that the 3 plastic clips are going to hit the holes before you try to snap them in place. Otherwise you can crush a clip,
Good luck!!

If you are quick and let me know what you want to see, I can get some pictures.
So, I agree that the rears are important, but if you're not comfortable tearing apart all the trim in back… not sure what to say about it.
Has anyone purchased from parts.com?
I was going to order a pair of the HK front door woofers from their site ($68.09 each), but after reading their "terms and conditions" I wanted to check with some others first.
It looks like they are just a middleman between buyers and sellers and they don't have any warranty or return policy.

Ok I'll bite....just b/c I'm curious as to the cost of that bad boy.
For reference, the mini dealership in tempe quoted me a little over $1000 to order it in from Germany. Definitely not worth it at that price, in my opinion. But I went for what SWorks was offering because I did want the complete system, and I knew it was going to be the lowest price I'd ever find outside of a lucky day at a salvage yard.
Well, too dark right now, but here's some I took a few weeks ago.

The speaker wire is back there, but I didn't notice any other cabling. I have other pictures, and I'll look through them to see if there's any showing the speaker removed. Probably won't happen until later this weekend, though, as I'm heading out of town for a few days.
Well, I put in the HK amp a couple days ago… and I'm taking it back out tomorrow.
Something is wrong. I was just in a 2010 loaner with the HK system in it, and it sounded good. Mine; is *waaaaaaay* too bass-y (I have to set the bass level down 6-8 notches to get it to sound 'right', which throws other things off as it's basically only a 3-band equalizer with those settings), and the gong is incredibly loud and I can't find a setting to adjust it in the navigation system interface (I could find it easily in the non-satnav loaner).
I'm hoping that it's just a software difference with the head unit that can be fixed — the dealership is going to ask the regional service tech about that, and should have an answer next week.
But for now, the hifi amp sounds good enough, so the HK amp is coming out first thing in the morning.

Yeah, it was a surprise to me. I'm not the first to put in an HK amp, so I thought this sort of thing would've been reported before now. Or maybe my amp is bad? I need to find someone in my area with a factory HK system that would be willing to do an experiment.
I ordered the speakers from Parts.com for the door. I am keeping the A pillar tweeters for now. From reading elsewhere I assume they are just a resellar od parts and don't actually stock anything since it has been a week anf the order is still "Processing". Has anyone else had any experience with Parts.com and had similar expeience?
I also ordered some sound absorbing material from RaamAudio to lessen the drone of the JCW Stage 1 exhaust. I already added Dynamat which helped some and I am hoping the "Ensolite" product takes away more.

Yeah I have ordered a bunch of times from them and have had fast shipping on everything. But I placed a big order on the 21st of September and it is still showing as processing. Annoyed!
